I have many machines, most are vintage. I wanted something lighter when I want to move it. This machine is awesome, simple and straight forward. The spool pins retract and are metal so they won't get broken, I even tried free motion quilting and it does wonderful with the included darning plate. The feed dogs don't drop but it works just as good. Though I love vintage machines, some of them smell so bad while using even though it's oiled and brushes on motor are fine. I've sewn professionally in the past so I am not a beginner. This is my primary machine. This is the perfect everyday workhorse type of machine. Sturdy and easy to use. I have used it to sew everything from light work to heavy outdoor fabrics.

A great value for the price!
After a couple communication hiccups, I got the "new baby" up and running. Although I'm an experienced sewist and have owned much higher end electronic machines, I decided to get back to basics with my new machine. Once the machine was set up, it has been running almost flawlessly. It IS mechanical, so not many bells and whistles-but it's also sturdy and does a great job so far.

The foot pedal is too touchy and the slightest touch makes the machine "take off". Loss of control.
This sewing machine is alright, but the foot pedal is too skitchy. Just the slightest pressure makes the machine race.

Great sewing machine!
I tested several sewing machines before deciding on this one. It is easy to understand, and works great. It has many useful types of stitches. It sews well on all fabrics, and things like elastic, zippers, and denim. Button holes are easy to make. I am very happy with my new machine.

This is a lovely machine perfect for my needs and similar enough to my old singer to save time having re-learn. I ultimately chose this model AH700 over singer because that brand is now made in China. Thanks to Stephanie for the immaculate packing and shipping job.
