ASUS 2GB Graphics Cards R7240-2GD3-L

Runs really quiet, does what I need it do.I have a Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86Ghz with 2GB of PC2-5300 RAM, running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.My old video card, an PNY Nvidia GeForce 7300GS with 256MB DDR2 RAM blew its caps.That card was OK, and could run games like Starcraft at full res, and Counter-Strike: Source at 30fps at 800x600 low settings.Once that card blew out, I was looking for a replacement. I had to buy another video card after eventually figuring out that this exact video card didn't work and it was supposed to be "brand new." Ya right. Out of the box; JUNK!

This card was easy to fit into my small form factor Dell Optiplex 320. It gave me a nice improvement in video quality. However, 1080p takes so much cpu that it hiccups. So I'll need to upgrade the cpu also. Not a big problem. The surprise for me is that this graphics card also contains a sound card. In order to support the HDMI port, this card also provided me with a nice audio upgrade, which is even obvious using the front audio out of the computer. I've always turned to ASUS for something great. It works very very well with the Gigabyte board. The problem I had was I couldn't install the drivers for it, with out A LOT of headache!I couldn't install anything for it on this build. I had to go the the website & get the software & install it, less drivers. Win8.1 picked up on it, during update, otherwise I kept getting the message "install an ASUS card" (or something like that).I certainly blame both Microsoft & ASUS for not playing well together.After that, the card is working fine enough, with out any tweaking software. EDITED, @ 90/30/2018OK, when I got this card, I thought it was great, it did almost every thing I ask, until I tried to connect it w/ HDMI cable.That would *not* work.So, I got a RTA, to have it fixed, or even replaced under the WARRANTY.I packed up, mailed it off, & waited for it to come back, all fixed up.Boy Howdy! was I ever wrong.I got the card back, installed it, & my computer wouldn't POST, it gave a beep code which indicated "NO VIDEO".Took it out, reinstalled my temp/back up card, & it all worked.Tried the R7 240, same thing.Then, I couldn't get the time of day from ASUS.So I bought a

I think my HP slimline computer motherboard bois will not except this Video card. I replaced a I Gb ASUS HD 5640 card which I updated a year ago. I was hoping I could get a little higher performance card than the one I have. My motherboard is a slimline HP with a small power supply (220 watts) with 2Gb of ram. These type of Video cards draw very little power so the small power supplies usually work with them. I have returned the ASUS 2GB R7240 and have order a ASUS HD 5640 with larger memory of 2 GB instead because I know this card works. That should help the video performance a little.What ha
