It is open to some scary looking wires and coils and machinery, but when you read the information it is supposed to be that way so it can release heat efficiently.Do not push this up totally against a wall. We've had this fridge for 2 weeks now, we keep it in our bedroom. The main reason we got it was to keep breast milk and pumps upstairs so I didn't have to go down to the kitchen in the night to pump or get milk for my baby. It keeps everything really cold, it took me a bit to dial in the right setting to not be below freezing inside. We keep it on level 2. I keep a thermometer in there that is digital so I'll get an alert on my phone if it's too warm or too cold. Overall, I’m very happy with this mini fridge. It arrived in a box with no dents, although it did have one noticeable big scratch on the front. It cools extremely well and works perfectly for what I bought it for.The only downside is the noise. Most of the time it’s very quiet, but when the compressor kicks on it gets noticeably louder. I keep it next to my bed, and since I’m a light sleeper, the noise can be a little disruptive. I’ll probably move it a bit farther away.Other than that, it’s been working great, and I would definitely recommend it if you don’t plan on keeping it right next to w

I bought this mini fridge to replace one that I already had and that was functional. Only problem with the one I had was that it only cooled down to 40 deg F. But this one has a compressor as it uses R600a refrigerant. My old one did not and is probably the reason why it only cooled down to 40 deg F. And as a result of it having a compressor it will sound louder when the compressor kicks in, just like a normal refrigerator. If you are getting it for a bedroom don’t bother. This unit is great except for the noise. When the compressor cuts on it sounds like someone snoring. I moved it to my work room and can still hear it from the bedroom. I will probably move it to my shop. I like it except for how loud it is.
