This is much larger and wider than it looks. Yes, I measured it to fit my machine, which is a standard size Singer type home machine. Not sure why bag is so wide and bulky. There is zero padding inside and so too much room on all sides to protect machine unless you add fabric or padding to cushion. There is a handy velcro strap inside to hold machine in place, but the bag itself will still knock around in trunk while driving if I don't lay it on its back.
