After trying the TickTalk 5 for a few weeks, the short battery life and lackluster GPS I needed to find another kid's watch for my 8 year old to wear to school and trips. I purchased two. The first one was a nightmare to setup. In the end, an incorrect IEMI number was to blame; however, it took a week to resolve. Therefore, I lost a week of paid service as the watch was unusable for that amount of time. The watch also had to be updated right out of the box. It would not update with less than 30% charge. There was 0% charge on the watch right out of the box, and it took awhile for the watch to get to 30%. (Batteries don’t hold charge as long as I’d like. I was verrrry hesitant to get this for my 7 year old son. I’ve had this for about a month now. The service is shotty. We have to restart often to get it to work which isn’t a great option when your kid isn’t with you. GPS is about 30 min behind. Quality of calls are low. Screen is also hard to text on. You have to tap pretty hard to get it to press the letter. We use talk to text mostly because of this. It gets the job done and cheaper than getting a smaller child an Apple Watch or something similar. Band fits well for a child (6yo, 4ft, 55lbs) and the watch seems durable. Overall I wouldn’t buy for another child but it gets the basics done.
