A little bit of vibration gives a sawing action that is way smoother than just pulling a knife through carpet or other materials. I grabbed this pack of blades because having the ability to cut hunks of carpeting and other soft materials seemed like a good idea. Out of the package these are not as sharp as I was expecting. They don't look like the pictures in the listing. Sure, you could sharpen them with a file or grinder, but you could also do that with an old work out blade to give it a new edge.
