We bought two of these cans, one stainless for trash, and one black stainless for recycling. We favor clean, simple design, and these fit beautifully into our updated mid-century modern home. For years, I'd been using an ancient plastic trash can in my kitchen, and finally found this beautiful, well-built, stainless steel Kohler trash can that fits like it was made for the small space in my kitchen. I love the gently self-closing lid and the fact that the bin can be removed and cleaned. I only wish there were clearer instructions about how to raise the lid all the way up to access the bin. I didn't know it needed quite as much of a push to lift the lid housing, and i was afraid it might break if I pushed too hard. It won't. Another drawback is that it's a little tricky to get your

KOHLER 8 Gallon Tall Hands-Free Kitchen Step Can was more than we thought it would be, very pleased. The Foot Pedal with the quiet-close lid is awesome. All in stainless with the food petal in black, very sharp looking! It hugs the wall offering plenty of space. Highly recommend.

Extremely high build quality that I can tell will last me forever! I went with the tall/loft version because I didn't have a lot of floor space in my apartment kitchen and this one happened to fit perfectly against the wall between where my freezer door and cabinet door would be if I happened to have both open at the same time.. The soft-close lid works flawlessly and conveniently doesn't open past 90 degrees so you don't have to worry about dinging your wall up. Perfect size for Small Kitchen !

The height of the lid opening is perfect for my counter because it doesn't hit the stone. The shape is beautiful and good quality. I'll buy another one.
