I consider the sponges I use to be pretty standard size and they're really too big for this holder. My scrub brush does fit inside well though. The holder definitely resembles stone, and its texture even feels a little like stone. I do have concerns that because of the rougher texture (it doesn't feel like it has a good protective layer on it) that it will stain easily. I originally ordered this holder thinking that it also came with the brush and sponge shown in all the pictures. Since those were featured in most of the pictures and there wasn’t an obvious note that were not included, the item page was a bit deceiving. Buyer beware if you are looking for the sponge and brush to be included. The holder is good quality though and works well with the sponges we have. I have had a heckuva time finding something that appealed to me, as well as being functional, for keeping my sink area looking neat.
