It not only looks great but covers the ugly burners and makes my kitchen look cleaner.I read some think it’s too light but i will tell you this is perfect! And magnets won’t stick so its really stainless steel. My parents have a cooktop that was installed in their island with the protruding knobs on the top. This is incredibly unsafe for seniors, for people with children, and pets, as it's easy to accidentally turn the stove on. Purchased the 36" size to fully cover a 30" gas cooktop. It is sturdy and works well for the intended purpose to prevent guests from spilling food on the cooktop. The first one had a broken weld but was quickly replaced. Welds are lacking, only the bottom corners are tacked. Plastic on the SS version was horrendous to remove and left a lot of residue that couldn't be completely buffed out. I'd suggest removing the black handles when removing the plastic since they can be snapped off then back on. Don't attempt to cut the rubber gasket to fit - it has an embedded metal ribbon. Two Updates And a Warning:I have discovered a problem with this item that potential buyers should be aware of. While we were waiting for our backsplash to be installed, I installed the included padded gasket around the edges of this stove cover, then placed it on the top of my wood kitchen island. Four or five days later, after our backsplash had been installed, I retrieved this for atop my kitchen island to place it on my stove. Absolutely love my gas burners stove top cover. Don't have a lot of counter space so this makes more counter space and also keeps my burners from having crumbs and cheese bits when I'm making sandwiches cuz I don't have a lot of counter space. It's heavy but I like it.

We did not like it for our purposes and returned it. We wanted to cover our propane stove top so we could cook with induction (for health purposes). We ended up using a nice heat resistant mat (inexpensive)* and topped it with a different stainless steel sheet**, which we LOVE. We now cook on a great 2-burner induction burner***.
