Best Countertop Blenders in 2026: 5 Picks for Smoothies, Frozen Drinks and Family Batches

Five countertop blenders compared on power, jar size and owner reviews: Ninja Professional Plus, Vitamix E310, Hamilton Beach Wave Crusher, NutriBullet SmartSense and Ninja Kitchen System.

Our top pickNinja Professional Plus Blender, Auto-iQ…9.4Our score

Blender listings lead with watts, and watts are the least useful number on the page. What decides whether you still like a blender a year from now is simpler: how much the jar holds, whether it runs on presets or a dial, how it cleans, and whether it fits under your cabinets.

This guide covers full-size countertop blenders, the kind with a pitcher for two or more servings. We went through the 82 in our catalog and picked five. Single-serve and portable blenders are a different purchase, so we left that category out, though two of the picks below include to-go cups that blend on the same base. Nothing here was tested in a lab or in our own kitchen: the rankings rest on published specifications and owner ratings, quoted for every pick. Prices move daily and are not printed; each button opens the live Amazon page.

How we picked

  • A real pitcher. Every pick has a jar of 40 oz or more. Where cups are included, they are an extra, not the main container.
  • Owner ratings first. Four picks average 4.6 stars or higher; the budget pick sits at 4.3 with more than 18,000 ratings behind it. Each pick has over 1,200 ratings.
  • One blender per kind of buyer. A family all-rounder, a premium variable-speed machine, a low-cost glass-jar blender, a pitcher-plus-cups combo and a blender that doubles as a food processor.
  • Wattage and warranty in every spec box. Both come straight from the listing, and we say when a figure is peak power rather than continuous output.
  • Cleanup noted. Each pick’s dishwasher-safe parts are listed as the maker states them, because a jar you dread washing is a blender you stop using.

The picks

#19.4Our score
Ninja Professional Plus Blender, Auto-iQ, 1400W, 72oz Pitcher, BN701
Power1400 peak wattsPitcher72 oz, 64 oz max liquidControls3 Auto-iQ programs, manual speeds, pulseSize6.75 D x 9 W x 17.5 H in, 8.1 lbWarranty1 year limited

The BN701 is the blender for a household that makes smoothies most mornings and frozen drinks on weekends. Its 72 oz pitcher is marked for 64 oz of liquid, enough for four large glasses, and the stacked blade assembly has blades at more than one level of the jar. Ninja says the 1400 peak-watt motor is stronger than the 1000 W base of its older Professional model. Three Auto-iQ programs run timed patterns of pulsing and pausing, so one button runs the whole cycle. No other countertop blender in our catalog pairs an average of 4.7 stars or better with this many ratings: more than 19,500.

Pros
  • Total Crushing blades are built to crush ice for smoothies and frozen drinks
  • Three Auto-iQ programs pulse, blend and pause on their own
  • BPA-free pitcher and blade assembly are top-rack dishwasher safe
  • 19,500+ ratings at 4.7 stars
Cons
  • One-year limited warranty
  • No tamper and no single-serve cup in this version
  • At 17.5 in tall, check the clearance under wall cabinets

Vitamix E310 Explorian Blender, Professional-Grade, Self-Cleaning 48 oz. Container, Black
Power1400 WContainer48 oz BPA-free TritanControls10 variable speeds plus pulseSize11 D x 8 W x 18 H in, 10.5 lbWarranty5 years full, including shipping both ways

A Vitamix is a tool for people who cook. Instead of presets, the E310 has a dial with ten speeds and a pulse switch, so you decide the texture: a rough chop for salsa, a slow start for a thick soup, full speed for a silky puree. A mini-tamper is included for pushing thick mixtures into the blades. The 48 oz container suits medium batches, and cleaning takes a drop of dish soap, warm water and up to a minute on high. The strongest argument is the warranty: five years, covering parts, labor and shipping in both directions. Owners rate it 4.6 stars across 5,400+ ratings. The value depends on using it for more than smoothies.

Pros
  • Ten-speed dial gives fine control from chunky salsa to smooth puree
  • Hardened stainless-steel blades
  • Cleans itself in 30 to 60 seconds with warm water and a drop of dish soap
  • 5-year full warranty covers parts, labor and return shipping
Cons
  • Cost about three times as much as the Ninja when we checked
  • The 48 oz container is smaller than the 64 and 72 oz jars here
  • No preset programs; you run it by hand

Hamilton Beach Wave Crusher Blender For Smoothies With 40 Oz Glass Jar and 14 Functions (54221)
Power700 W peakJar40 oz glassControls14 blending functions, push buttonsSize9.5 D x 6.9 W x 15 H inWarranty3 years limited

The Wave Crusher is one of the most-reviewed blenders in our catalog: more than 18,600 ratings at 4.3 stars. It pairs a 40 oz glass jar with a motor that Hamilton Beach lists at 700 watts of peak power and says is life-tested to blend 8,000 frozen drinks. The Wave-Action design pulls ingredients down toward the blades as they spin, and 14 labeled functions cover the range from puree to ice crush. It sold for under $60 at the time of writing, about half the price of the Ninja. With half the peak power of the 1400 W machines and a smaller jar, it suits small batches more than family quantities.

Pros
  • Glass jar, which many buyers prefer to plastic
  • Jar, lid, blades and collar are all dishwasher safe
  • Three-year limited warranty, longer than either Ninja
  • 18,600+ ratings
Cons
  • 4.3 stars is the lowest average on this page
  • 700 W peak is half the power of the Ninja and NutriBullet
  • 40 oz jar is small for more than two or three servings

nutribullet SmartSense Blender Combo, 1400W, 64oz Pitcher, 32oz and 24oz Cups, NBF50700
Power1400 WContainers64 oz pitcher, 32 oz cup, 24 oz handled cupControls5 speeds plus smart auto cycleWeight7.3 lbWarranty1 year limited

Some households need both sizes: a pitcher on Sunday, a single cup on the way to work. The SmartSense Combo puts a 64 oz pitcher, a 32 oz cup and a 24 oz handled cup on one 1400 W base. You can choose from five speeds yourself or press the auto cycle, which senses how much is in the container and adjusts speed and time. A dot-matrix display shows the setting and the running time. The pitcher, its lid and the cups are dishwasher safe, with the blades and to-go lids on the top rack. Its 4.6-star average comes from about 1,200 ratings, far fewer than the Ninja.

Pros
  • One base blends a family pitcher or a single to-go cup
  • Auto cycle senses the load and sets speed and time itself
  • Tamper, two to-go lids and a recipe book in the box
  • 4.6 stars from 1,200+ owners
Cons
  • Fewest ratings of the five picks
  • Cup blending stops after 60 seconds and is limited to 3 cycles in 6 minutes
  • An owner review in our data describes it as very loud

Best blender and food processor

Ninja Compact Kitchen System, Auto-iQ, 1200W, 72oz Pitcher, Grey, AMZ493BRN

Ninja Compact Kitchen System, Auto-iQ, 1200W, 72oz Pitcher, Grey, AMZ493BRN
Power1200 WContainers72 oz pitcher, 40 oz processor bowl, 18 oz cupControlsAuto-iQ programs, 3 functionsSize7.5 D x 8.25 W x 17.25 H in, 11.1 lbWarranty1 year limited

If you would otherwise buy a blender and a small food processor, this system replaces both. The base runs a 72 oz pitcher for drinks, a 40 oz bowl with a chopping blade and a dough blade, and an 18 oz cup for a single smoothie. Auto-iQ programs handle the timing. At 1200 W it has a little less power than the Professional Plus, and the extra parts need storage. Owners rate it 4.8 stars over 8,300+ ratings, the best average of any blender we considered. It cost more than the BN701 when we checked, so buy it for the processor bowl, not for better smoothies.

Pros
  • Blender, ice crusher and food processor on one base
  • 5-cup processor bowl with chopping and dough blades
  • 18 oz single-serve cup with a spout lid
  • 4.8 stars from 8,300+ owners, the highest average here
Cons
  • More containers and blades to store
  • One-year limited warranty
  • The processor bowl holds 5 cups, less than a full-size food processor

What to look for in a countertop blender

Jar size, read carefully. A “72 oz” pitcher is measured to the brim. Ninja marks the usable liquid limit at 64 oz, which is eight cups. For one or two people, 40 to 48 oz is enough and is easier to pour and wash. For four or more, look at 64 oz and up.

Presets or a dial. Programs such as Auto-iQ are good for repeat jobs: the same smoothie every morning, crushed ice on Friday. A variable-speed dial, as on the Vitamix, is better for cooking, because you can start slowly, watch the texture and stop when it is right.

Do not shop by watts alone. Peak watts describe a momentary maximum, not steady output, and makers quote whichever figure looks better. Use power as a rough tier: around 700 W handles soft fruit, shakes and ice in small amounts, while 1200 W and above is the class for frozen fruit and fibrous greens.

A tamper helps with thick blends. Nut butter, frozen desserts and thick smoothie bowls form an air pocket over the blades. A tamper pushes the mix back down while the motor runs. The Vitamix and the NutriBullet include one.

Glass or plastic. Glass is heavy but does not scratch or hold odors the way plastic can. BPA-free plastic is lighter and is what almost every high-power blender uses. Of these picks, only the Hamilton Beach has a glass jar.

Height and storage. Three of these blenders stand 17 to 18 inches tall with the jar on the base. Measure the gap under your wall cabinets before ordering.

A blender and a juicer are not the same tool: a blender keeps the fiber in the glass, a juicer removes it. If juice is what you want, see our juicer guide. For other countertop appliances, we have guides to air fryers and rice cookers.

How many watts does a blender need for smoothies?

For fresh fruit, yogurt and a few ice cubes, a 700 W blender such as the Hamilton Beach Wave Crusher is enough. For frozen fruit, kale and crushed ice in family quantities, choose the 1200 to 1400 W class, which covers the two Ninja picks, the NutriBullet and the Vitamix.

Is a Vitamix worth the money?

It depends on use. The E310 costs about three times as much as the Ninja Professional Plus, and for smoothies alone the Ninja is the better buy. The Vitamix earns its price if you also make soups, sauces and purees, want a variable-speed dial, and value a 5-year full warranty that covers shipping both ways.

Are personal blenders included in this guide?

No. This guide covers full-size countertop blenders with a pitcher. If you want single servings as well, the NutriBullet SmartSense Combo includes 32 oz and 24 oz cups, and the Ninja Compact Kitchen System includes an 18 oz cup, all of which blend on the main base.

Can a blender replace a food processor?

Partly. A plain blender needs liquid to work and is poor at chopping dry ingredients or kneading dough. The Ninja Compact Kitchen System adds a 5-cup processor bowl with chopping and dough blades, which covers salsa, chopped vegetables and small batches of dough.

Which of these blenders can go in the dishwasher?

The Ninja Professional Plus pitcher and blade assembly are top-rack dishwasher safe. The Hamilton Beach jar, lid, blades and collar are dishwasher safe. The NutriBullet pitcher, lid and cups are dishwasher safe, with blades and to-go lids on the top rack. The Vitamix E310 is cleaned by running it with warm water and dish soap for 30 to 60 seconds.

Bottom line

Most families should buy the Ninja Professional Plus: it has the power and the jar size for daily smoothies and the most owner ratings of our five picks. The Vitamix E310 is the long-term choice for cooks, the Hamilton Beach Wave Crusher is the low-cost glass-jar option, the NutriBullet SmartSense Combo suits homes that want a pitcher and cups, and the Ninja Compact Kitchen System adds a food processor.
