Best Diamond Cutting Blades in 2026: Diamond Cut-Off Wheels for Angle Grinders and Compact Saws Ranked by Owners

Eight diamond cutting blades ranked by diameter, arbor, cut life and owner reviews: Diablo 4.5 inch, FIXLTFAST, Lenox MetalMax 3 inch, Revvstark, Indestructible 3-pack, FOXBC 3 inch, PRETEC 3-pack.

Our top pick18.9Our score

A bonded abrasive cut-off wheel is cheap, shrinks with every cut and eventually shatters; a diamond cutting blade is a solid steel disc with diamond grit brazed or electroplated to its rim, keeps its diameter for thousands of cuts, throws fewer sparks and does not break when you drop it. For anyone who cuts rebar, angle iron, bolts or stainless more than once a month, the diamond wheel pays for itself in a week. We ranked the diamond cutting blades in our tools catalog by diameter and arbor (4.5 inch on a 7/8 inch arbor for angle grinders, 3 inch on a 3/8 inch arbor for compact saws), the cut life the maker claims, the materials listed, wheel thickness, how many come in the pack, and what hundreds of owners report after months of cutting.

We have not run every blade to the end of its life; the verdicts rest on the published specs and the owner review history. Prices are not printed because they change daily; every button opens the live Amazon page. For conventional bonded wheels see our cut-off wheels for angle grinders guide, and for cutting with an oscillating tool, our oscillating tool blades guide.

How we picked

  • Solid steel body with a diamond rim. Every pick is a non-shattering steel disc, not a bonded wheel.
  • Arbor and diameter stated. 4.5 inch with a 7/8 inch arbor for angle grinders, 3 inch with a 3/8 inch arbor for compact saws, and the max RPM listed.
  • A cut-life claim we can quote. From 1,000 cuts on the Lenox to over 6,000 on the FIXLTFAST and PRETEC wheels.
  • Materials named. Rebar, angle iron, stainless, cast iron, aluminum and, on one pick, tile and stone.
  • Owner history. Every pick has hundreds of owner reviews and a strong owner rating or better.

Diablo Diamond Metal Cut-Off Disc - 4-1/2 inch Diameter, 7/8 inch Arbor
Size4-1/2 inch diameter, 7/8 inch arbor, hub 1RimElectro-plated diamond abrasiveCut lifeUp to 100 times a standard bonded discMaterialsRebar, angle iron, cast iron and other ferrous metalsSafetyShatter-proof steel body, fewer sparks and less dustPack1 disc

Diablo’s diamond cut-off disc is the one that made the category mainstream, and it remains the safe buy: a 4.5-inch solid steel wheel on a 7/8-inch arbor with an electro-plated diamond rim that Diablo rates at up to 100 times the life of a standard bonded disc on rebar, angle iron and cast iron. Because the wheel never wears down in diameter, the cut depth on the last cut is the same as the first, and because it is steel it does not shatter if it hits a nail or falls off the bench. Owners rate it excellently across hundreds of reviews, and the common comment is that one disc outlasted a whole box of bonded wheels. You get a single disc for the price of a generic three-pack and it is marketed for metal only, with no tile claim and no arbor adapters, but for a grinder that lives on a job site it is the disc we would reach for first.

Pros
  • Diablo name and the longest field record of any wheel here
  • Keeps its diameter, so cutting depth never shrinks
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with an excellent owner rating
  • Shatter-proof even when dropped
Cons
  • One disc per pack; the generics give three for similar money
  • Metal only; not marketed for tile or stone
  • No arbor adapters in the box

FIXLTFAST 4-1/2 inch Diamond Cutting Wheel Metal Cut Off Disc for Angle Grinder
Size4.5 inch (115 mm) diameter, 7/8 inch (22.23 mm) arbor, 0.047 inch (1.2 mm) thickCut lifeOver 6,000 metal cuts, about 100 bonded discsMaterialsRebar, angle iron, cast iron, stainless, alloy steel, aluminum, pipe, sheetBodyHigh-manganese steel with serrated edges and 24 cooling holesIncluded20 mm and 5/8 inch arbor adaptersPack1, individually packed

FIXLTFAST has done the homework on this wheel: the body is high-manganese steel with precision-ground serrated edges, the diamond is electroplated to a thickness matched to the substrate, and 24 holes around the rim move air to keep it cool, which is why the listing claims over 6,000 cuts, roughly the work of 100 bonded discs. It is thin at 1.2 mm, so it cuts fast with little resistance, and it comes individually packed with 20 mm and 5/8-inch arbor adapters so it fits grinders that are not 7/8 inch. Materials run from rebar and angle iron to stainless, cast iron, aluminum and sheet. Hundreds of owners rate it strongly. A thin wheel will flex if you twist it in the kerf, so keep it straight, and the brand is a newcomer next to Diablo and Lenox; otherwise it is the best single-wheel value on the page.

Pros
  • Over 6,000 cuts claimed from a 1.2 mm thin wheel
  • Arbor adapters for 5/8 inch and 20 mm grinders in the box
  • Twenty-four holes keep the rim cool in long cuts
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with a strong owner rating
Cons
  • Thin 1.2 mm body flexes if you lean on it sideways
  • Generic brand with less history than Diablo
  • Single disc

Lenox Tools 1972918 METALMAX Diamond Edge Cutoff Wheel, 3 inch x 3/8 inch
Size3 inch diameter, 3/8 inch arborCut life1,000 or more cuts; 30 times a thin bonded wheelMaterialsSteel, sheet metal, stainless, rebar, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrousBodySolid steel, maintains diameter and cutting depthBrandLenox MetalMaxPack1 wheel

The Lenox MetalMax is the 3-inch diamond wheel that owners of compact cut-off saws have been fitting for years. It is a solid steel wheel with a diamond edge on a 3/8-inch arbor, rated by Lenox for 1,000 or more cuts and 30 times the life of a thin bonded wheel, in steel, sheet, stainless, rebar, cast iron and aluminum, and because the diameter never shrinks the saw keeps its full depth of cut. Hundreds of owners rate it strongly and the reviews come from electricians, HVAC and auto work where the small saw lives in a bag. Its cut-life claim is conservative next to the generics, which may be honesty rather than weakness, and it is one wheel per pack at a price near the FOXBC three-pack below. It is the pick when you want a known name on a tool you rely on.

Pros
  • The established 3 inch diamond wheel from a major blade maker
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with a strong owner rating
  • Fits compact cut-off saws and 3 inch cut-off tools
  • Keeps full cutting depth for its whole life
Cons
  • 1,000-cut claim is modest beside the 5,000-plus generics
  • One wheel per pack
  • Not for angle grinders

4 1/2 in Cut Off Wheel Diamond Cutting Wheel for Metal 7/8 inch Arbor
Size4-1/2 inch (115 mm) diameter, 7/8 inch (22.23 mm) arbor, 0.047 inch (1.2 mm) thickMax speed13,300 RPMCut lifeUp to 5,000 cuts, 120 times a bonded wheelRimBrazed diamond particles on a steel coreMaterialsMetal, rebar, stainlessBrandRevvstark

Revvstark’s wheel uses brazing rather than plating to fix the diamond to the steel core, which the listing argues gives a more heat-resistant edge, and the result is a 4.5-inch, 1.2 mm wheel rated for up to 5,000 cuts in metal, rebar and stainless at a 13,300 RPM maximum. The rim has rounded holes to clear dust and lower noise, the steel body does not wear out, and owners report cleaner, less dusty cuts than bonded wheels with far fewer sparks. Hundreds of owners rate it strongly. It ships as a single disc with no arbor adapters, and the generic product name makes it easy to confuse with near-identical listings, so check the ASIN. Against the FIXLTFAST it is a coin toss on paper; buy whichever is cheaper on the day.

Pros
  • Brazed rather than plated diamond for a heat-resistant edge
  • Ultra-thin 1.2 mm body for fast, accurate cuts
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with a strong owner rating
  • Rounded rim holes cut vibration and clear dust
Cons
  • No arbor adapters
  • Generic name makes it hard to tell from similar listings
  • Single disc

4-1/2 inch Indestructible Cutting Discs for Angle Grinder 7/8 inch Blades Cut Off Wheels Diamond Tool Metal rebar Porcelain Tile Granite Marble Smooth Cutter (3pcs)
Size4-1/2 inch diameter, 7/8 inch arborPack3 discsMaterialsMetal, rebar, stainless, marble, ceramic and porcelain tile, stone, plastic pipeBodyOne-piece manganese steel, serrated diamond-coated edgeCut lifeMore than 5,000 rebar cuts; longer than 100 resin wheelsSafetyNo fragmentation; little dust and no smell

Most diamond cut-off wheels are metal-only; this three-pack adds tile, porcelain, granite, marble and plastic pipe to the list, which makes it the disc to keep in a renovation kit. Each wheel is a one-piece manganese steel body with a serrated, diamond-coated edge on a 7/8-inch arbor, rated for more than 5,000 rebar cuts and a longer life than 100 resin wheels, with no fragmentation risk and little dust. Hundreds of owners rate it strongly, and the reviews mention trimming a tile, cutting a bolt and shortening a PVC pipe with the same disc. The serrated rim is not as clean on thin sheet metal as a smooth-rim wheel, and a disc that cuts everything is not the best at any one of them, but for a homeowner with one grinder and many materials, three of these cover a lot of ground.

Pros
  • Cuts tile, granite and marble as well as metal
  • Three discs in the pack
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with a strong owner rating
  • Serrated edge starts a cut easily
Cons
  • Serrated rim is rougher on thin sheet than a smooth rim
  • Multi-material claims mean it is a jack of all trades
  • Generic brand

FOXBC 3 Inch Diamond Cut Off Wheel with 5000+ Metal Cutting on Rebar, Stainless Steel, Angle Iron, 3/8 inch Arbor - 3 Pack
Size3 inch diameter, 3/8 inch arborPack3 wheelsCut life5,000-plus metal cuts, up to 100 times a bonded discMaterialsRebar, angle iron, cast iron, stainless, alloy steel, aluminum, pipe, sheetRimElectro-plated diamondFitsCompact saws from Dewalt, Dremel Saw-Max, Milwaukee (20,000 RPM) and Ryobi (19,000 RPM)

FOXBC’s three-pack is the way to stock a compact cut-off saw without thinking about blades again for a year. Each 3-inch wheel sits on a 3/8-inch arbor, carries an electro-plated diamond rim rated for more than 5,000 cuts in rebar, angle iron, cast iron, stainless, aluminum and sheet, and the listing names the saws it is built for: Dewalt and Milwaukee at 20,000 RPM, Ryobi at 19,000 and the Dremel Saw-Max. The steel bodies do not shatter and the rims throw fewer sparks than bonded wheels. Hundreds of owners rate the pack excellently, the best history among the 3-inch picks. It has less heritage than Lenox and the cut-life figures are the maker’s own, but at three wheels for roughly the price of one MetalMax it is the sensible buy for a saw that gets used.

Pros
  • Three wheels for about the price of one Lenox
  • Lists the compact saws and their RPM it is rated for
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with an excellent owner rating
  • Diamond rims do not break when dropped
Cons
  • Less brand history than Lenox
  • 3 inch only; not for grinders
  • Cut-life figures come from the maker, not a lab

4 1/2 inch Diamond Cut Off Wheels, Angle Grinder Cutting Disc for Metal, 3PCS
Size4.5 inch (115 mm) diameter, 7/8 inch (22.23 mm) arbor, 0.074 inch (1.9 mm) thickPack3 wheelsCut life6,000-plus cuts in metalMaterialsSteel bar, rebar, iron, alloy steel, aluminum, stainless, pipeBodySolid steel with cooling holes and dust groovesBrandPRETEC

PRETEC’s three-pack is the grinder equivalent of the FOXBC set: three 4.5-inch diamond wheels on a 7/8-inch arbor, each rated for more than 6,000 cuts in steel bar, rebar, iron, alloy steel, aluminum and stainless. At 1.9 mm these are thicker than the FIXLTFAST and Revvstark wheels, which means a slightly wider kerf and a fraction more effort per cut but far less flex if a cut wanders or the work shifts, and the body has cooling holes and grooves to carry heat and dust away. Hundreds of owners rate it strongly and several note the stiffness as the reason they prefer it. There are no arbor adapters and the brand is generic, but if you want a spare in the drawer and one on the grinder without buying three Diablos, this is the pack.

Pros
  • Three 4.5 inch wheels in one pack
  • Thicker 1.9 mm body resists flex better than the 1.2 mm wheels
  • Cooling holes and grooves for long cuts
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with a strong owner rating
Cons
  • Thicker wheel cuts a wider kerf and a little slower
  • Generic brand
  • No arbor adapters

Diamond Cutting Wheel, 4 1/2 Inch Cut Off Wheel with 7/8 inch Arbor Hole for Angle Grinder, Carbide 5000+ Cuts on Rebar, Metal Cutting Disc for Steel, Iron and INOX - 3 Pcs
Size4-1/2 inch (115 mm) diameter, 7/8 inch (22.23 mm) arbor, 1 to 1.4 mm thickPack3 wheelsCut lifeOver 5,000 cuts, up to 100 times a thin bonded wheelMax speed13,300 RPMMaterialsSteel, rebar, iron pipe, alloy steel, aluminum, INOX, profiles, sheetUseDry or wet

This three-pack is for the cut that has to be clean: the 1 to 1.4 mm edge is the thinnest here, so it slices steel, rebar, iron pipe, aluminum and INOX stainless with the least resistance and the least burr, and the maker rates it for more than 5,000 cuts at up to 13,300 RPM, wet or dry. The solid steel body does not shatter, and three wheels come in the box. Hundreds of owners rate it strongly, with the praise focused on how little cleanup a cut needs. The listing uses carbide and diamond interchangeably in its wording, which is sloppy, and like every thin wheel it will flex if you twist it in the kerf, so it is a wheel for straight, controlled cuts rather than rough demolition. For trim, tube and sheet it is the three-pack we would choose over the thicker PRETEC.

Pros
  • Ultra-thin 1 to 1.4 mm edge for fast, burr-free cuts
  • Three wheels per pack
  • Rated for wet as well as dry cutting
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with a strong owner rating
Cons
  • Thin wheels flex; keep the cut straight
  • Listing mixes carbide and diamond wording
  • Generic brand

Diamond or bonded?

A bonded abrasive wheel is cheaper per disc and cuts a little faster when new, but it wears smaller with every cut, loses depth, clogs on aluminum and can shatter if it catches. A diamond wheel costs several times as much, keeps its diameter and depth for its whole life, throws fewer sparks and far less dust, and because the body is steel it bends rather than explodes. The makers here claim from 1,000 to over 6,000 cuts per wheel against perhaps 30 to 60 for a thin bonded disc, so even at a tenth of those numbers the diamond wheel is cheaper per cut. The one place bonded wheels still win is price for an occasional single cut. At Do Best Deal we would put a diamond wheel on any grinder that cuts metal weekly.

Thickness, kerf and flex

The 4.5-inch picks split into thin (1 to 1.4 mm: the carbide 3-pack, FIXLTFAST and Revvstark) and thicker (1.9 mm: PRETEC). Thin wheels cut faster with less heat and leave almost no burr, but they flex if the cut is twisted, and flexing a steel wheel is how you ruin the diamond rim. Thicker wheels are forgiving in rough work, cut a wider kerf and need a little more pressure. For tube, trim and anything you want to weld afterwards, go thin; for demolition, rebar in concrete and awkward angles, go thick. The 3-inch Lenox and FOXBC wheels are set by the compact saws they fit.

Arbors, speed and the compact saw question

Every 4.5-inch wheel here fits a 7/8-inch (22.23 mm) arbor, which is the standard for 4.5 and 5-inch angle grinders; the FIXLTFAST adds 5/8-inch and 20 mm adapters for older or imported tools. The 3-inch wheels use a 3/8-inch arbor for the compact cut-off saws from Dewalt, Milwaukee, Ryobi and Dremel, which spin to 20,000 RPM, so do not swap them onto a grinder. Check the maximum RPM printed on the wheel against your tool; the 4.5-inch picks list 13,300 RPM, which covers every mains and cordless grinder we know of. And wear eye protection anyway: diamond wheels throw fewer sparks, not none.

Can a diamond cut-off wheel cut metal?

Yes. Every wheel on this page is designed for steel, rebar, angle iron, stainless and aluminum. The electro-plated or brazed diamond rim on a steel body cuts ferrous and non-ferrous metal and lasts thousands of cuts.

Which diamond blade also cuts tile and stone?

The Indestructible 3-pack is marketed for porcelain and ceramic tile, granite, marble and plastic pipe as well as metal. The other picks are metal-cutting wheels; a dedicated turbo or continuous-rim tile blade is still better for a lot of tile.

Will a 3 inch diamond wheel fit my angle grinder?

No. The Lenox and FOXBC wheels have a 3/8 inch arbor for compact cut-off saws. Angle grinders take the 4.5 inch wheels with a 7/8 inch arbor, and the FIXLTFAST includes 5/8 inch and 20 mm adapters for other grinders.

How many cuts does a diamond cut-off wheel last?

Makers claim from 1,000 cuts (Lenox) to over 6,000 (FIXLTFAST, PRETEC) depending on material and technique. Owners report one diamond wheel outlasting a box of bonded discs. Keeping the cut straight and avoiding side pressure is what preserves the rim.

Thin or thick diamond wheel?

Thin 1 to 1.4 mm wheels cut faster and cleaner for tube, trim and sheet. The 1.9 mm PRETEC is stiffer for rebar and rough demolition. Thin wheels can flex and lose their diamond edge if twisted in the cut.
