A mailer box is the shipping box a small business actually uses: a one-piece corrugated blank that folds into a box with a tuck-in lid, no tape needed, sized to a product rather than to a moving truck. The right one survives the carrier, looks good when the customer opens it, costs a few cents less per order than the one next to it, and stores flat in a closet by the hundred. We ranked the mailer boxes in our office and school supplies catalog by outer and inner dimensions, board grade (most quote 32 ECT single-wall), finish (kraft, white or black), count per pack and cost per box, and what thousands of owners report after shipping orders in them for months.
We have not crush-tested every box; the verdicts rest on the published dimensions and board grades and on the owner review history, and we give each pick our own score instead of repeating the figures on the listing. Prices are not printed because they change daily and multi-packs vary; every button opens the live Amazon page. For moving cartons, wardrobe boxes and heavier shippers, see our moving and shipping boxes guide, and for pricing what goes in the box, our tag guns and retail supplies guide. Do Best Deal wrote this one for the sellers who ship from a spare room.
How we picked
- Mailer boxes, not moving boxes. Every pick is a fold-and-tuck corrugated mailer sized for products; moving cartons and wardrobe boxes live in our other guide.
- Dimensions stated. Outer and, where the listing gives it, inner size, since a product that is a quarter inch too big does not ship.
- Board grade or construction stated. Most quote 32 ECT single-wall or three-layer corrugated; we say which.
- A range of sizes and finishes. From 7x5x2 up to 17x11x3, in kraft, white and black.
- Owner history. Every pick has a large base of owner reviews with a positive sentiment, and none appears in our moving-box guide.
The picks
MEBRUDY 12x9x2 Inches Shipping Boxes Pack of 20, Small Corrugated Cardboard Box for Mailing Mailer Packing, Brown

The MEBRUDY 12x9x2 is the mailer most small sellers should start with, because 12 by 9 by 2 inches is the size of a folded T-shirt, a hardback book, a cap or a wrapped mug, and the box is built better than the price suggests. It is ECT-32 corrugated with slotted construction and square corners, which MEBRUDY calls crush resistant and which owners widely praise for delivering orders without dents. It folds without tape, glue or staples, the plain kraft surface takes a shipping label, a brand stamp or a sticker cleanly, and it meets the common carrier size rules. Twenty boxes per pack is enough to find out whether the size suits your product before buying bulk. Its shallowness is the only real constraint: two inches is for flat goods, and a candle or a boxed cosmetic needs the three- or four-inch boxes below. For books, apparel and anything flat, this is the pick. Our score 9.4/10.
- ECT-32 board with square 90-degree corners; widely praised by owners for arriving crush-free
- Tape-free assembly in seconds
- Unprinted kraft takes labels, stamps and stickers cleanly
- Right size for shirts, books, hats, mugs and media
- Two inches deep is too shallow for anything bulky
- Twenty per pack; heavy shippers will want the 50-count sizes
- Kraft brown is plain if presentation matters to you
PHAREGE 50 Pack 7x5x2 inch Small Shipping Boxes, Brown Mailing Boxes

Small products need small boxes, and the PHAREGE 7x5x2 is the one owners keep reordering. The outer size is 7 by 5 by 2 inches, the inner is about 6.6 by 4.6 by 1.8, which fits a bar of soap, a jewelry box, a small cosmetic, earbuds or a phone case with a little padding, and it ships 50 to a carton, which is where the per-box price gets low. The kraft corrugated board folds in seconds and the tuck top has two locking tabs that keep the lid shut without tape, a detail that matters when a box is tumbling through a sorting facility. Owners widely praise it for being sturdier than the size suggests and for how well it takes stickers and ribbon for gift orders. The things to know are the inner dimensions, which are tight, and that this listing is kraft only. If your product is small and you ship often, this is the cheapest reliable way to do it. Our score 9.4/10.
- Fifty boxes per pack at a low cost per box
- Tuck top with two locking tabs stays closed in transit
- The right size for jewelry, soap, small cosmetics and phone accessories
- Widely praised by owners for sturdiness relative to its size
- Inner size is only 6.6 x 4.6 x 1.8 in; measure your product
- Kraft only; no white or black option in this listing
- Too small for most apparel
Hoikwo 20 Packs Black 12x9x4 Medium Shipping Boxes

If your margins can stand a few more cents per order, a black box changes how a customer feels when the parcel arrives, and the Hoikwo 12x9x4 is the black mailer with the deepest owner history. It is 12 by 9 by 4 inches, so it takes the things the two-inch boxes cannot: a candle, a boxed skincare set, a folded sweater, a subscription assortment. The board is three-layer thickened corrugated, which Hoikwo says resists deforming in daily use and which owners widely praise for arriving square, and the matte black surface takes a white label or a gold sticker well. Hoikwo pitches it at subscription companies, gift services and boutiques, and owners also use it for inventory storage and wrapping. Two honest notes: black shows carrier scuffs more than kraft does, and you pay for the finish. For a brand that wants the box to be part of the product, it is the pick. Our score 9.4/10.
- Clean black finish that owners widely praise for a premium look
- Four inches deep fits candles, boxed cosmetics and folded sweaters
- Three-layer corrugated that holds its shape
- Works for storage and gift wrap as well as shipping
- Black shows scuffs from the carrier more than kraft
- Costs more per box than the kraft picks
- Twenty per pack
Eupako 12x9x3 White Shipping Boxes Corrugated Box Mailers 20 Pack Cardboard Shipping Boxes for Small Business, Mailing

The Eupako 12x9x3 sits between the flat MEBRUDY and the deep Hoikwo, and three inches turns out to be the most useful depth for a lot of sellers: a folded hoodie, two T-shirts, a candle in a jar, a boxed set of soaps. Eupako publishes both outer and inner dimensions, 12 by 9 by 3 outside and 11.9 by 8.9 by 2.9 inside with a stated tolerance, which is the kind of honesty that saves a seller from a box that is a hair too small. The board is thickened corrugated, assembly is tape-free, and the white surface with its slightly rustic finish takes rubber stamps, stencils and stickers, which is why the pack includes a sheet of thank-you stickers. Owners widely praise it for the presentation and for arriving undamaged. White does show handling marks more than kraft, and twenty is a trial quantity. For a boutique shipping soft goods, it is the best-looking mid-size box here. Our score 9.4/10.
- Three inches deep, the in-between size that fits most apparel and soft goods
- Thank-you stickers in the box for a boutique touch
- White surface takes stamps, stencils and stickers
- Widely praised by owners for how it looks on arrival
- White shows scuffs and dirt from handling
- Inner size is quoted with a tolerance; measure your product
- Twenty per pack
HORLIMER 9x6x2 inches Shipping Boxes Set of 50, White Corrugated Cardboard Box Literature Mailer

HORLIMER’s 9x6x2 is the volume box: fifty white 32 ECT mailers per carton, 9 by 6 by 2 outside and 8.6 by 5.9 by 1.9 inside, which suits books, planners, greeting card sets, small electronics and anything that ships in a padded bag today but deserves a box. It assembles without tape, stores flat, and is rated for standard stacking, and owners praise it as a dependable, inexpensive workhorse. The reason it ranks mid-table rather than at the top is that its owner sentiment is a notch below the MEBRUDY and PHAREGE: the most common complaints mention board that feels thinner and corners that arrive crushed when the carrier is rough, so it is better for sturdy products than fragile ones, and worth a sheet of tissue or a bit of padding around anything that could dent. Two inches deep and a white finish that scuffs are the other limits. For cost per box in bulk, it remains the one to beat. Our score 8.8/10.
- Fifty boxes per pack at the lowest cost per box of the mid-size picks
- 32 ECT grade stated, rated for standard stacking
- White surface suits a printed label or a custom stamp
- Owners praise it as a dependable workhorse for literature and small goods
- Owner sentiment is a step below the other boxes here; most complaints mention thinner board and crushed corners
- Two inches deep
- White scuffs easily
40 Pack Small Shipping Boxes 8x6x4 Inches

Some products are small but tall: a mug, a candle, a jar of jam, a plush toy, a boxed gift set. The 8x6x4 is the box for them, with four inches of depth in a footprint barely bigger than the PHAREGE, and this 40-pack is the best-reviewed version in the catalog. The boxes are white recyclable corrugated, ship flat, and fold in seconds with tape, which is the one way they differ from the tuck-top mailers above; it is a regular slotted box rather than a fold-and-lock mailer. Owners widely praise the value and use them for shipping, moving small items and decorating as gift boxes with stickers or paint. The listing is unbranded and quotes less detail than the Eupako or HORLIMER, with no board grade or inner dimension stated, so allow a quarter inch of clearance. For a shop that ships mugs, candles or food gifts, this is the shape to buy. Our score 9.4/10.
- Four inches deep in a small footprint, for mugs, candles, toys and food gifts
- Forty per pack at a modest cost per box
- White surface takes stickers, labels and paint for custom gift boxes
- Widely praised by owners for value
- Needs tape, unlike the tuck-top mailers
- Unbranded listing with fewer stated specs
- Three product images; check the listing for the current pack count
Timirog Shipping Boxes 17x11x3 Inches 18 Pack Black Corrugated Cardboard

When a small business ships something larger, a jacket, a pair of jeans and a shirt, a stack of books or a wedding gift, the Timirog 17x11x3 is the black mailer that fits. It is 17 by 11 by 3 inches outside and just under 16 5/8 by 10 3/4 by 2 3/4 inside, built from three-layer recycled kraft that owners widely praise as sturdy enough for UPS, USPS and FedEx, and printed matte black on both the inside and the outside so the box looks as good open as closed. It is pitched at apparel, jewelry trays, cosmetics and gift wrapping, and it works for all of them. The costs are size-related: eighteen boxes per pack makes it the most expensive per box here, and a box this large will often be charged by dimensional weight, so compare carrier rates before standardising on it. For the orders that need the room and the presentation, it is the pick. Our score 9.2/10.
- Big enough for a jacket, a stack of books or a gift set
- Printed black inside and out so the unboxing matches the exterior
- Three-layer construction that owners praise as heavy duty
- Inner dimensions published
- Eighteen per pack and the priciest box here
- Large box means higher dimensional-weight postage
- Black scuffs show
Rempry 11x8x2 Black Shipping Boxes Set of 20, Cardboard Corrugated Boxes Gift Boxes for Small Business, Literature Mailer

The Rempry 11x8x2 is the black version of the flat literature mailer, for sellers whose products are thin and whose brand is dark: prints, notebooks, folded shirts, cards and small accessories. It is 11 by 8 by 2 outside and 10.6 by 7.9 by 1.9 inside, 32 ECT corrugated with square corners, and it folds without tape. The useful detail is that the black is printed on both sides of the board, which Rempry notes hides scratches better than single-sided black, and which means the inside of the box matches the outside when it is opened. Owners praise it for the look and for arriving intact. It has fewer reviews than the Hoikwo, it is a two-inch box so it will not take anything bulky, and black costs more than kraft at the same size. If the MEBRUDY is the right shape for your product but kraft is the wrong color, this is the alternative. Our score 9.2/10.
- Black printed on both sides, so scratches show less than single-sided black
- 32 ECT board with square corners
- Flat two-inch mailer for books, prints, apparel and stationery
- Owners praise the look for small-business and gift orders
- Smaller owner base than the Hoikwo
- Two inches deep
- Priced above kraft boxes of the same size

Picking the size: measure the product, then add clearance
Mailer boxes are sold by outer dimensions, and the inner dimension is roughly a quarter inch smaller each way, which is why the Eupako, HORLIMER, PHAREGE, Timirog and Rempry listings publish both. Measure your packed product, including any tissue or padding, and choose a box with at least a quarter inch of clearance in each direction; a box that is too tight bulges and pops its lid, and a box that is too loose lets the product slide and dent the corners. Depth is the dimension sellers get wrong most often: two inches suits flat goods, three inches most folded apparel, four inches candles and jars. Keep two or three sizes in stock rather than one, and check your carrier’s dimensional-weight rules before standardising on a large box like the Timirog, since postage can cost more than the box.
Kraft, white or black?
Kraft brown is the cheapest, hides scuffs best and takes a brand stamp well, which is why the MEBRUDY and PHAREGE are the workhorses here. White costs a little more, looks cleaner, shows every mark from the carrier, and is the right base if you print or stencil your own design; the Eupako and HORLIMER are the white picks. Black is the premium finish, costs the most per box, reads as a gift when it arrives and shows scratches unless it is printed on both sides like the Rempry; the Hoikwo and Timirog are the black picks for small and large orders. A reasonable rule: use kraft for everything you sell at a low margin, and reserve white or black for the products whose customers will photograph the unboxing.
Board grade and what it protects
Most mailer boxes here are 32 ECT single-wall corrugated, which is the standard grade for parcels up to roughly 30 pounds and plenty for apparel, books, cosmetics and small hard goods. The Hoikwo and Timirog quote three-layer construction, which in practice is the same single-wall board described differently. None of these is a double-wall box; for anything heavy, fragile or sharp-cornered, use the heavier shippers in our moving-box guide or wrap the product in bubble or paper inside the mailer. A mailer’s real strength is its folded geometry: the tuck-top flaps and double-thickness sides make a 32 ECT mailer stiffer than a taped slotted box of the same board. Keep boxes dry and flat before use, since a damp carton loses most of its crush strength, and do not overstuff; the lid should close without force.
What size shipping box do I need for T-shirts?
A 12 x 9 x 2 in mailer such as the MEBRUDY holds one or two folded T-shirts; 12 x 9 x 3 in such as the Eupako holds a hoodie or three shirts. Measure the folded stack and allow a quarter inch of clearance.
Do mailer boxes need tape?
The tuck-top mailers here, including MEBRUDY, PHAREGE, Hoikwo, Eupako, HORLIMER, Timirog and Rempry, fold and lock without tape. The 8x6x4 pack is a regular slotted box and needs tape on the flaps. Many sellers add a strip of tape over the lid anyway for security.
What does 32 ECT mean on a shipping box?
Edge crush test rating. 32 ECT single-wall corrugated is the standard grade for parcels up to around 30 pounds and is what most of the boxes here quote. Heavier or fragile goods need double-wall boxes or inner padding.
Are black shipping boxes worth the extra cost?
For products where presentation drives repeat orders, such as cosmetics, candles, jewelry and gifts, owners say yes. For low-margin items, kraft boxes such as the MEBRUDY and PHAREGE do the same job for less and hide scuffs better.
Can I store mailer boxes flat?
Yes, every pick ships flat in a carton and should be stored flat, dry and away from heat until use. A damp box loses much of its crush strength, so keep the carton off a garage floor.
