Best Tag Guns and Retail Supplies in 2026: Tagging Guns, Fasteners and Price Tags Ranked by Owners

Eight tagging guns and retail supplies ranked by kit contents, needle quality, fastener count and owner reviews: BS ONE, PAG-Mass, Ogrmar, Comfort Grip, Mr. Pen, plus FEMELI tags and PAG-Mass barbs.

Our top pick18.9Our score

A tagging gun does one thing: it pushes a plastic fastener through a price tag and a garment seam so the tag hangs on until a customer pulls it off. Anyone who has run a consignment sale, a boutique booth, a thrift shop or an online clothing business knows how much time it saves over safety pins, and how annoying a cheap gun that jams every tenth squeeze becomes by the hundredth item. We ranked the tagging guns and retail supplies in our office and school supplies catalog by what comes in the kit (needles, fasteners, case), standard versus fine needle type, how many fasteners you get and in what lengths, the quality of the tags and barbs sold as refills, and what thousands of owners report after tagging seasons of inventory.

We have not tagged a thousand shirts with every gun here; the verdicts rest on the published kit contents and the owner review history, and we score each pick ourselves rather than repeating the figures on the listing. Prices are not printed because they change daily; every button opens the live Amazon page. If you ship what you tag, our shipping mailers and boxes guide covers the small-business mailer boxes, and our moving and shipping boxes guide covers the bigger cartons. Do Best Deal put this page together for the sellers who asked for it.

How we picked

  • Standard tagging system. Every gun here takes standard needles and standard fasteners, so refills from any brand fit; fine and micro guns for delicate fabrics are a different system and are noted but not ranked.
  • Complete kits. Each gun ships with spare needles and at least 1,000 fasteners, since a gun without barbs is a paperweight.
  • The supplies too. The two refill picks, 5,000 barbs and 1,000 blank tags, are what a seller runs out of first.
  • Owner history. Every pick has a large base of owner reviews with a positive overall sentiment; the one lower-scored gun is explained.
  • Honest about fabric. All makers say the same thing, and so do we: standard needles are for wool, cotton, denim and synthetics, not silk or fine knits.

The picks

BS ONE Price Tagging Gun for Clothing, Standard Retail Price Tag Attacher Gun for Clothes with 6 Needles and 1000pcs Barbs Fasteners for Store
TypeStandard tagging gun, hard plastic bodyNeedles6 stainless steel standard needles (0.08 in)Fasteners1,000 two-inch standard barbsFabricsWool, linen, cotton, denim, polyester, synthetics; not silk or fine fabricsUsesPrice tags, brand labels, cardboard tags on garments, toys, luggage, socks, bagsOur score9/10

The BS ONE kit is the tagging gun most people buy and the one most of them keep. It is a standard gun with a hard plastic body, six stainless steel needles instead of the usual five, and 1,000 two-inch barbs, and BS ONE says it keeps working after thousands of squeezes if it is used correctly, which the owner history supports: it is widely praised for feeding smoothly and not jamming, and for being learnable in a minute from the instructions. It attaches cardboard tags, brand labels and price labels to garments, toys, luggage and bags, and the maker is careful to say it is a tagging gun, not a stitch gun for repairing clothes. The limits are the normal ones. A thousand fasteners sounds like a lot until a consignment sale, so buy the PAG-Mass refill below at the same time, and the 0.08-inch standard needle leaves a visible hole in thin or delicate fabric, so tag through a care label or seam. There is no case or wrist strap in the box. Our score 9/10.

Pros
  • The most-bought tagging gun in the catalog, widely praised by owners for reliability
  • Six needles, more than most kits
  • Simple to load and to change needles; owners say they learned it in a minute
  • Hard plastic body that survives thousands of uses
Cons
  • Only 1,000 fasteners; a busy sale uses those in a weekend
  • No case or wrist strap
  • Most owner complaints mention a leftover visible hole on thin fabric, which is true of every standard gun

PAG-Mass Standard Tagging Gun Price Tag Attacher Gun for Clothing with 5 Needles and 2000 2inch Barbs Fasteners, Purple
TypeStandard tagging gun with ergonomic gripNeedles5 standard needles plus a cover cap on a wrist strapFasteners2,000 two-inch standard barbsFabricsWool, linen, cotton, denim, polyester, synthetics; not silk or delicate fabricsCompatibilityAny brand of standard needles and fastenersOur score9.2/10

PAG-Mass makes both guns and fasteners, and its standard kit is the one to buy if you want to tag for a while before reordering: 2,000 two-inch barbs, five standard needles, and a cover cap on a wrist strap so the needle is capped and the gun is on your wrist between garments, a small design touch that matters when you are pricing a rack. The grip is shaped to reduce hand fatigue, and owners widely praise it for comfort over long sessions and for being quick to clear on the rare jam by following the instructions. It takes any brand of standard needle and fastener, so it pairs with the PAG-Mass refill below or with anyone else’s. Five needles rather than six, a purple body and the universal caveat about delicate fabrics are the only marks against it. Between this and the BS ONE, pick on fastener count and the strap; both are good guns. Our score 9.2/10.

Pros
  • Twice the fasteners of the BS ONE in the box
  • Wrist strap with a needle cap keeps the needle covered between items
  • Ergonomic grip that owners praise for long sessions
  • Owners praise it as easy to clear when a fastener does jam
Cons
  • Five needles rather than six
  • Purple body is not to every taste
  • Standard needle leaves a hole in fine fabric like every gun here

FEMELI 1000 Pcs Price Tags for Tag Gun, 1.75 x 1.1 Inches Unstrung White
TypeUnstrung white marking tagsSize1.75 x 1.1 in (44 x 27 mm)Hole1/8 in pre-cut hole for needle and barbCount1,000UsesPrice or item number on clothing, socks, shoes, backpacks, toys; yard and consignment salesOur score9.4/10

Tags are the supply every seller underestimates, and FEMELI’s 1,000-pack is the one to stock. Each tag is 1.75 by 1.1 inches, which is enough room to write a price, a size and an item number, with a 1/8-inch pre-cut hole that takes a tagging needle and barb cleanly. Owners widely praise the card stock for staying flat and intact when a barb is pulled, and the smooth face for taking a pen or a marker without bleeding; among all the picks on this page it has the strongest owner sentiment. They are unstrung, so they are meant to be attached with a gun like the BS ONE or PAG-Mass, though a safety pin works in a pinch. The limits are presentation rather than performance: white only, so you cannot color-code sizes or consignors, and no printed price box, which some sales prefer. For a yard sale, a consignment event or a booth, a thousand of these and a gun are the whole tagging system. Our score 9.4/10.

Pros
  • The best-scored item on this page; owners widely praise the sturdy card and smooth surface
  • Pre-cut hole takes a tagging needle and barb without tearing
  • Big enough to write a price, size and item code
  • 1,000 tags covers a large sale
Cons
  • White only; no colors for sorting by size or seller
  • Unstrung, so they need a gun or a safety pin
  • A plain tag; no printed price boxes

Clothes Price Label Tagging Gun, Labeler Clothing Tag Attacher with 1000(±50) White Barbs Fasteners and 5 Extra Steel Needles
TypeStandard tagging gun, ergonomic handleNeedles5 extra stainless steel needlesFastenersAbout 1,000 two-inch white standard barbsFabricsWool, linen, cotton, denim, polyester, synthetics; not silk or delicate fabricsCompatibilityAny size or brand of standard attachmentsOur score9/10

This unbranded kit is the budget pick, and the budget is not much of a sacrifice: a standard tagging gun with an ergonomic handle, five spare stainless steel needles and roughly 1,000 two-inch white barbs, all for less than most people pay for a coffee and a pastry. The trigger is a single squeeze per tag, the handle is shaped for long sessions, and the maker lists the same fabric guidance as everyone else: wool, linen, cotton, denim and synthetics, not silk or fine knits. Owners widely praise it for value and for simply working, and the listing includes a short how-to that explains loading the fastener bar and covering the needle. The trade-offs are what you would expect at the price. There is no brand to call, the barbs are white rather than clear and show a little more on dark clothing, and the count is stated as approximate. For a one-off garage sale or a first market stall, it is hard to argue with. Our score 9/10.

Pros
  • Usually the lowest price on this page for a full kit
  • Ergonomic handle that owners say does not tire the hand
  • Fast single-squeeze trigger action
  • Takes standard fasteners from any brand
Cons
  • Unbranded, so support is through the seller
  • White barbs show more than clear ones on dark garments
  • Fastener count is approximate

PAG-Mass 2 inch Standard Tagging Gun Fasteners Tag Barbs Attachments Price Tag Gun Refill for Clothing, 5000pcs, Transparent
TypeStandard two-inch tagging barbsCount5,000 (50 per clip)ColorTransparentFabricsLight, medium and heavy weight fabricsCompatibilityMost standard tagging guns; not fine or mini stitch gunsOur score9.2/10

Every standard gun on this page empties its box of fasteners sooner than you expect, and this is the refill to have waiting. PAG-Mass sells 5,000 clear two-inch barbs in clips of 50, which is the common size for hanging a tag from a seam, and the paddle end is slightly larger than the cheapest barbs so the fastener does not pull back through the hole it made. Clear plastic is the right choice for a mixed rack because it vanishes against both black and white garments. The barbs are rated for light, medium and heavy fabrics and fit most standard guns, including the BS ONE, Ogrmar and Comfort Grip here, though not fine or mini stitch guns, which take their own thin fasteners. Owners widely praise them for smooth feeding, with the most common complaints being an occasional clip that feeds stiffly; snapping the clip fully into the gun fixes most of those. If you want three-inch barbs for thick items like coats and bedding, buy the Ogrmar kit below, which includes 5,000 of them. Our score 9.2/10.

Pros
  • 5,000 clear barbs is a season of tagging for most sellers
  • Clear plastic disappears on dark and light garments alike
  • Larger paddle end that owners praise for not pulling back through
  • Fits PAG-Mass, BS ONE and nearly any standard gun
Cons
  • Two-inch only; no one-inch or three-inch in the pack
  • Will not fit fine or mini guns
  • Some owner complaints mention occasional clips that feed stiffly

Ogrmar Clothing Price Label Tagging Tag Gun 5000pcs 3 inch Price Tagging Barbs
TypeStandard tagging gun, hard plasticNeedles6 replacement needlesFastenersAbout 5,000 three-inch standard barbsUsesClothing, socks, toys, bags, luggage, textiles; retail stores, boutiques, warehousesCompatibilityStandard needles and fastenersOur score9/10

Ogrmar’s kit answers a specific need: a gun plus enough fasteners to tag a whole shop, with a barb long enough for thick goods. You get a standard hard-plastic gun, six replacement needles and about 5,000 three-inch barbs, the length that works for coats, blankets, bags, luggage and chunky knits where a two-inch fastener is too tight to let the tag hang. The maker lists it for boutiques and warehouses as well as homes, and owners widely praise the value of getting five thousand fasteners in one box. Its limits are the flip side of the long barb. On a thin blouse a three-inch fastener dangles, so most sellers who buy this also keep a bag of two-inch barbs, and the kit includes none. The body is plain hard plastic without the padded grip of the Comfort Grip or the shaped handle of the PAG-Mass. For bulk tagging of heavier items, though, it is the most fasteners per dollar on the page. Our score 9/10.

Pros
  • 5,000 fasteners in the box, the most of any gun kit here
  • Three-inch barbs suit coats, bedding, bags and thick knits
  • Six replacement needles
  • Widely praised by owners for value on a big inventory
Cons
  • Three-inch barbs are long and floppy on thin tops
  • No shorter barbs in the kit
  • Hard plastic body without a padded grip

Comfort Grip Price Tagging Gun, Includes Standard Retail Price Tag Attacher Gun for Clothing, 2500 Asstd 1in, 2in, 3in Barbs Attachments, 5 Needles
TypeStandard tagging gun, Comfort Grip brandNeedles5 (one in the safety cap on the wrist strap)Fasteners2,500 assorted: 1,500 two-inch, 500 one-inch, 500 three-inchFabricsWool, linen, cotton, denim, polyester, synthetics; not silk or fine fabricsBrandUsed by manufacturers and retailers for close to 50 yearsOur score9/10

Comfort Grip has supplied retailers and manufacturers for close to fifty years, and its kit is the one to buy if you want everything in a single box: a standard gun in the brand’s purple, five needles with one kept in a safety cap on the wrist strap, and 2,500 fasteners split into 1,500 two-inch, 500 one-inch and 500 three-inch, so socks, shirts and coats each get the right length. The maker writes the clearest instructions on this page, recommends tagging through a sewn-in label or a seam, and offers support through buyer messaging, which the generic kits do not. Owners running consignment sales, thrift shops and church and charity events widely praise it for reliability and for the assortment. It costs more than the no-name kits, and five needles is the standard count rather than a bonus. For a seller who tags a range of items and would rather not buy three bags of barbs, it is the complete answer. Our score 9/10.

Pros
  • Only kit here with one, two and three inch fasteners in the box
  • Comfort Grip is a long-standing retail supply brand with real customer support
  • Wrist strap with a capped needle
  • Widely praised by owners running consignment and charity sales
Cons
  • Costs more than the generic kits
  • Five needles
  • Comfort Grip advises tagging through a sewn-in label or seam, so plan placement

Mr. Pen- Price Tagging Gun, Hangtag Attacher with 1000 Barbs
TypeStandard tagging gun, lightweightNeedles5 stainless steel standard needlesFasteners1,008 standard barbsFabricsWool, linen, cotton, denim, polyester, synthetics; not silk or delicate fabricsUsesCardboard, brand and price labels on clothes, toys, luggage, socks, bagsOur score8.6/10

Mr. Pen sells pens, rulers and office supplies, and its tagging gun is the brand-name version of the budget kit: a lightweight standard gun with an ergonomic grip, five stainless steel needles and 1,008 standard barbs, listed for the usual fabrics and the usual uses. Owners praise it for comfort, light weight and the convenience of buying a known stationery brand alongside their other supplies. It ranks last because its owner sentiment is the weakest of the guns on this page: the most common complaints mention fasteners jamming and a body that feels less solid than the BS ONE or PAG-Mass, and while jams on any standard gun are usually a loading problem, the pattern is clearer here. If you already order from Mr. Pen and need a gun for an occasional sale, it will do the job; if tagging is a regular part of your business, spend the same money on the PAG-Mass kit above. Our score 8.6/10.

Pros
  • Mr. Pen is a recognised stationery brand with consistent packaging
  • Lightweight and comfortable, per owners
  • Full kit with 1,008 barbs and 5 needles
  • Priced with the generic kits
Cons
  • Lowest owner sentiment of the guns here; most complaints mention jams and a flimsy feel
  • Only 1,008 fasteners
  • No wrist strap or case

Standard or fine tagging gun?

Every gun ranked here is a standard gun, which uses a needle about 0.08 inches thick and the common standard fasteners sold everywhere. It is the right system for wool, cotton, denim, linen, polyester and most synthetics, for toys, bags and luggage, and for the overwhelming majority of resale and retail tagging. Fine and micro guns use a much thinner needle and their own thin fasteners, and they exist for silk, fine knits, lingerie and anything where a standard needle would leave a visible hole; the stitch guns sold as clothing fixers are a variant of the fine system. Needles and fasteners do not cross between the two systems. If you sell mostly everyday clothing, buy a standard gun; if you sell delicate fabrics, buy a fine gun as a second tool and keep the standard gun for everything else.

How to tag without damaging the garment

The makers all give the same advice and the owner complaints about holes prove it is worth repeating. Tag through a sewn-in brand or care label, a seam or a hem, never through the body of the fabric, and never through silk, satin or a fine knit with a standard needle. Push the needle fully through before squeezing so the barb clears the fabric; a half-squeeze is the usual cause of a jam. Load the fastener bar with the clip seated until it clicks, and keep the needle capped when the gun is in a bag, which is what the PAG-Mass and Comfort Grip wrist straps are for. Replace a needle as soon as the tip bends; a bent needle tears fabric and jams the gun, and the kits here include five or six for that reason. Match fastener length to the item: one inch for socks and small goods, two inch for most clothing, three inch for coats, bedding and bags.

Setting up a sale: what to buy

For a consignment or yard sale, one gun kit, a bag of refill barbs and a pack of tags is the full setup. The BS ONE or PAG-Mass gun plus the PAG-Mass 5,000 barbs and the FEMELI 1,000 tags will tag more than most families own. A market stall or boutique that tags weekly should add the Comfort Grip or Ogrmar kit for the longer fasteners and keep a second gun loaded with a different fastener length so you are not swapping clips mid-rack. Online clothing sellers who ship what they tag will also want the mailer boxes in our shipping guide. Buy clear barbs for a mixed rack, white if everything is light, and keep a marker and a few safety pins in the kit for the one garment a standard needle should not touch.

Which tagging gun is best for a small business?

The BS ONE kit for reliability, or the PAG-Mass kit for 2,000 fasteners and a wrist strap. Both take standard refills from any brand. Add the PAG-Mass 5,000 barbs and the FEMELI tags so you do not run out mid-sale.

Do tagging gun fasteners fit any gun?

Standard fasteners fit any standard gun, including every gun on this page. Fine and micro guns use thinner needles and their own fasteners, and the two systems do not mix.

Why does my tagging gun jam?

Usually a fastener clip that is not fully seated, a half-squeeze before the needle is through the fabric, or a bent needle. Reseat the clip, push the needle all the way in before squeezing, and swap the needle if the tip is bent.

Will a tagging gun leave holes in clothes?

A standard needle can on thin or delicate fabric. Tag through a care label, a seam or a hem, and use a fine tagging gun for silk, satin and fine knits.

What length fastener should I use?

One inch for socks and small accessories, two inch for most clothing, three inch for coats, bedding, bags and thick knits. The Comfort Grip kit includes all three; the Ogrmar kit is three inch only; the other kits ship two inch.
