Best Smart Scales in 2026: Body Composition Scales for Weight, Body Fat and BMI Ranked by Owners

Eight smart scales ranked by electrodes, metrics, app sync and owner reviews: Etekcity Upgraded, RENPHO Elis 1, Posture, LOFTILLA, arboleaf, GE 500 lb, RENPHO Wi-Fi Elis Aspire, iHealth Nexus PRO.

Our top pickEtekcity Upgraded Smart Scale for Body W…9.4Our score

A smart scale replaces the number you dread with a chart you can learn from. Step on, and it logs weight to your phone; most also estimate body fat, muscle mass, water and a dozen other figures by sending a tiny current through your feet, and the best new ones add a handle so the current goes through your arms and torso too. We ranked the smart scales in our beauty and health catalog by the number of electrodes (four in the feet, or eight with a handle), how many metrics they report and which show on the scale itself, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi sync and which health apps they feed, weight capacity and precision, power source, and what hundreds of thousands of owners report after months of daily weigh-ins.

We have not calibrated every scale against a lab; the verdicts rest on the published specs and the owner review history, with the honest caveat that body-fat readings from any home scale are estimates that track trends well and absolute values poorly. Prices are not printed because they change daily; every button opens the live Amazon page. If you also weigh food, our kitchen scales guide covers that, and our tech gifts under $50 guide includes a few of these.

How we picked

  • Owner history. Every pick has a meaningful number of owner reviews and a rating of 4.5 or better; the top two have 152,000 and 19,000.
  • Metrics on the scale and in the app. We note which numbers show on the glass without a phone, since that is how most people use a scale on a Tuesday morning.
  • Electrodes stated. Four-electrode scales measure through the feet; eight-electrode scales with a handle measure arms and torso too and give segmental readings.
  • App compatibility. Every pick syncs with Apple Health and at least one of Google Fit, Samsung Health, Fitbit or MyFitnessPal.
  • Capacity and precision. At least 400 pounds and 0.2 pound increments; several reach 0.1 pound.

The Etekcity Upgraded is the smart scale most people should buy, and tens of thousands of owner reviews rating it an excellent owner rating is the strongest endorsement on this page. It uses dual-frequency bioimpedance, a step up from the single-frequency electronics in most budget scales, to report 13 metrics including body fat, BMI, muscle mass and body water, and it recognizes who stepped on without being told. The feature that sets it apart from the cheap competition is a switch on the back that lets you enter height and age with a button and use it with no phone at all. The VeSync app syncs to Apple Health, Fitbit, Google Fit, Samsung Health and MyFitnessPal, capacity is 400 pounds in 0.1-pound steps up to 220, and it is FSA eligible. It runs on AAA batteries and shows only weight on the glass, which is why the LOFTILLA and GE exist.

Pros
  • tens of thousands of owner reviews, with an excellent owner rating, the most-trusted smart scale here
  • Recognizes users automatically and works without a phone via a rear switch
  • Dual-frequency measurement, usually found on pricier scales
  • FSA and HSA eligible; syncs to every major health app
Cons
  • Only weight shows on the scale; other metrics need the app
  • AAA batteries rather than rechargeable
  • Four electrodes, so no segmental readings

RENPHO Elis 1 Smart Scale, USB-C Rechargeable, 13 Body Metrics, 400lbs

RENPHO sells more smart scales than almost anyone, and the Elis 1 USB-C is the version to buy: the same 13 metrics and 400-pound capacity as its battery-powered twin, with a built-in rechargeable cell that charges over USB-C and lasts months. The 6 mm tempered glass carries four high-sensitivity electrodes, readings come in 0.2-pound increments, and the RENPHO Health app, which the brand says serves over 50 million people, syncs to Apple Health, Samsung Health and MyFitnessPal, supports unlimited profiles and lets a family share trends for motivation. A baby mode weighs an infant in your arms. tens of thousands of owner reviews give it an excellent owner rating. The increments are coarser than the Etekcity’s 0.1 pound, it shows only weight on the glass, and like all Bluetooth scales it needs the phone within range to upload, which the Wi-Fi RENPHO below fixes.

Pros
  • USB-C rechargeable; no more hunting for AAA batteries
  • RENPHO Health app is used by over 50 million people and shares trends with family
  • Unlimited user profiles and a baby mode for weighing an infant in your arms
  • an excellent owner rating across tens of thousands of owner reviews
Cons
  • 0.2 lb increments, coarser than the Etekcity and iHealth
  • Only weight on the display
  • Bluetooth only, so the phone must be nearby to sync

The Posture scale proves that a smart scale does not have to cost much to be good: tens of thousands of owner reviews give it an excellent owner rating, and it reports the same 13 body composition metrics as the Etekcity and RENPHO, including subcutaneous fat, protein, BMR and body age, through four electrodes and four precision sensors with a 400-pound capacity. It is FSA and HSA eligible, and the Fitdays app tracks changes over days, weeks, months and years and pushes the data to Apple Health, Health Connect and Samsung Health. The savings show in the app, which is functional rather than slick, and in the display, which shows weight only. If you want the metrics and the trend charts and do not care about brand polish or a rechargeable battery, it is the value pick on this page.

  • FSA and HSA eligible
  • Fitdays app charts days, weeks, months and years

LOFTILLA Scale for Body Weight, BMI, Body Fat, Muscle Mass
Electrodes8, dual-frequency BIA through hands and feetMetrics8 on the 5.4 inch display; 50-plus in the Feelfit app incl. segmental fat and muscleConnectivityBluetooth; Feelfit app syncs to Apple Health and othersCapacity400 lb in 0.1 lb incrementsDisplayLarge 5.4 inch LED showing weight, fat, muscle, BMI, water, bone, visceral fat, body typeOwner ratingan excellent owner rating across tens of thousands of owner reviews

The LOFTILLA answers the biggest complaint about smart scales: having to open an app to see anything but weight. Its 5.4-inch LED shows eight metrics right on the glass after each weigh-in, including body fat, muscle mass, BMI, body water, bone mass, visceral fat and body type, and because it has eight electrodes, a handle you hold plus the four underfoot, it measures arms, legs and torso independently and unlocks more than 50 metrics with segmental fat and muscle in the Feelfit app. Precision is 0.1 pound to a 400-pound capacity. tens of thousands of owner reviews give it an excellent owner rating, which makes it by far the most-reviewed eight-electrode scale here. You do need the app once to enter your height, the handle and its cable live on the floor beside the scale, and like every bioimpedance scale it is not for pacemaker wearers or pregnancy.

Pros
  • Eight core metrics appear on the scale itself, no phone needed after setup
  • Eight electrodes measure limbs and torso separately
  • tens of thousands of owner reviews, with an excellent owner rating, the biggest base of the 8-electrode scales
  • 0.1 lb precision
Cons
  • Initial setup requires the Feelfit app to enter height
  • Handle and cable to manage on the floor
  • Not for pacemaker users or during pregnancy, like all BIA scales

arboleaf Smart Scale for Body Weight, 8-Electrode Scale with Handle

The arboleaf is the eight-electrode scale for a house full of people. It stores eight profiles, recognizes who is standing on it, and supports unlimited users in the app, and because the handle sends current through the arms and torso it produces segmental fat and muscle readings for each limb, plus BMR, body type, trend charts and printable reports a trainer or doctor can read. Seven metrics appear on the display without the phone; more than 50 live in the Arboleaf app, which syncs to Apple Health, Samsung Health and Health Connect. tens of thousands of owner reviews give it the best owner rating here mark among the eight-electrode scales here. It is the most expensive pick on the page, its display shows one fewer metric than the LOFTILLA, and as with any handle scale, hold the grip the same way each morning or the segmental numbers wander.

Pros
  • Best-rated 8-electrode scale here, with an excellent owner rating
  • Seven metrics on the display, 50-plus in the app with printable reports
  • Stores 8 profiles and recognizes who stepped on
  • Segmental fat and muscle for each limb and the torso

GE Smart Scale for Body Composition, Weight, BMI, 500lb, Large 11.8-Inch
Electrodes4, with 4 high-precision sensorsMetrics14 incl. body fat, muscle, water, bone, visceral fat, BMR, skeletal muscleConnectivityBluetooth; Fit Profile app syncs to major fitness apps; one-time phone pairing then standaloneCapacity500 lb in 0.1 lb incrementsPlatform11.8 inch wide with a 5.33 inch color display and anti-tip baseOwner ratingan excellent owner rating across thousands of owner reviews

The GE Fit Plus LN is the smart scale for anyone a standard scale shortchanges. Its platform is 11.8 inches wide, its capacity is 500 pounds in 0.1-pound steps, a hundred more than everything else on this page, and GE adds an anti-tip base for safe weigh-ins. The 5.33-inch color display shows all 14 metrics on the scale, including body fat, muscle mass, body water, bone mass, visceral fat, BMR and skeletal muscle, after a one-time phone pairing; after that no phone is required, though the free Fit Profile app keeps the history and syncs to other fitness apps. thousands of owner reviews give it an excellent owner rating and GE backs it with US-based support. It is a four-electrode scale, so there are no segmental readings, and its size, the very thing that recommends it, makes it awkward to tuck beside a toilet in a small bathroom.

Pros
  • 500 lb capacity and an 11.8 inch platform, the largest here
  • Color 5.33 inch display shows all measurements on the scale
  • Anti-tip base; US-based customer support

  • Fewer reviews than the Etekcity and RENPHO
  • Four electrodes only; no segmental data

RENPHO Wi-Fi Scale for Body Weight, Bluetooth Body Fat Scale, Smart Bathroom Scale Health Monitor, 13 Body Composition Analyzer with Smart App, White, Elis Aspire
Electrodes4 with ITO coating for all foot sizesMetrics13; weight, BMI and body fat show on the scaleConnectivity2.4GHz Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth; uploads without opening the appUsersUp to 8 profiles plus baby modeAppsRENPHO Health, Apple Health, Samsung Health, Apple Watch appOwner ratinga strong owner rating across thousands of owner reviews

The RENPHO Elis Aspire fixes the one thing that annoys people about Bluetooth scales: you step on, your phone is in the kitchen, and nothing syncs. This scale joins your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and uploads every reading to the RENPHO Health app on its own, with Bluetooth as a fallback, and it shows weight, BMI and body fat right on the glass. The ITO full-surface electrode coating reads small and large feet alike, it stores eight profiles with a baby mode, and the app feeds Apple Health, Samsung Health and an Apple Watch app. thousands of owner reviews give it the lowest owner rating here on the page, and the critical reviews are almost all about Wi-Fi setup, which does not support 5GHz networks and trips up some routers. Once connected, it is the most effortless scale here for a family that forgets to open apps.

Pros
  • Wi-Fi upload means readings reach the app whether or not your phone is in the room
  • Weight, BMI and body fat appear on the glass
  • ITO full-surface coating works for small and large feet
  • Eight profiles and a baby mode; Apple Watch app
Cons
  • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only, no 5GHz
  • Lowest rating here, with a strong owner rating; setup is the usual complaint
  • Still four electrodes

iHealth is a connected-health company first, which shows in the Nexus PRO: alongside body fat, BMI, body water, muscle mass and body age it measures resting heart rate each time you step on, a metric none of the other scales here report, and its ITO full-surface sensors read in 0.1-pound increments regardless of foot size. The LED display turns on and off automatically, the scale auto-calibrates and auto-zeros, and the MyVitals app charts daily, weekly and monthly trends and shares them with the major health apps. thousands of owner reviews give it a strong owner rating and the brand’s California-based support draws praise. It reports 12 metrics to the others’ 13 or 14, shows only weight on the glass and runs on AAA batteries. For someone tracking cardiovascular health alongside weight, the heart-rate reading is a real reason to choose it.

  • ITO full-surface sensors read any foot size; 0.1 lb precision
  • California-based customer service from a health-device brand
  • Auto on, auto calibration and overload indication

Four electrodes or eight?

Every scale here estimates body composition by bioimpedance: a tiny current runs through you and the scale infers fat, muscle and water from the resistance. Four-electrode scales (Etekcity, RENPHO, Posture, GE, iHealth) send the current up one leg and down the other, so they are really measuring your lower body and estimating the rest. Eight-electrode scales (LOFTILLA, arboleaf) add a handle so the current also crosses the arms and torso, which gives separate readings per limb and a more complete picture. For tracking weight and a trend in body fat, four is fine; for strength training, physio or anyone who wants to see one arm catching up with the other, eight is worth the extra money.

How accurate are the body-fat numbers?

Treat them as trends, not truths. Home bioimpedance is affected by hydration, time of day, a recent meal, a shower and cold feet, so the same person can read two or three percentage points apart in a day. Weigh at the same time each morning, after the bathroom and before breakfast, with dry feet, and the week-to-week line will be meaningful even if the absolute figure is off. Dual-frequency scales like the Etekcity, LOFTILLA and arboleaf are more consistent than single-frequency ones. Weight itself is accurate on all eight picks to 0.1 or 0.2 pounds. And no bioimpedance scale is suitable for someone with a pacemaker or during pregnancy; use a plain scale instead.

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and the app question

Bluetooth scales need your phone within range to sync, and many store a few readings until it is; the Etekcity and GE get around this with modes that work with no phone at all, and the LOFTILLA, arboleaf and GE put most of the metrics on the glass. Only the RENPHO Elis Aspire uses Wi-Fi, uploading from the bathroom to the cloud by itself, which is the right answer for a household that will never open an app. Check that the scale feeds the health app you already use: all eight sync to Apple Health, most to Samsung Health or Health Connect, and the Etekcity and RENPHO also to Fitbit or MyFitnessPal. Several picks are FSA and HSA eligible, which can make a pricier scale free.

Which smart scale is the most accurate?

For weight, all eight are accurate to 0.1 or 0.2 pounds. For body composition, eight-electrode scales like the LOFTILLA and arboleaf and dual-frequency models like the Etekcity give the most consistent estimates, but every home scale estimates body fat rather than measuring it; use them for trends.

Do I need the phone every time I weigh myself?

Not with the Etekcity (rear switch for no-phone mode), the GE (pair once, then standalone with all metrics on screen), the LOFTILLA or arboleaf (metrics on the display), or the RENPHO Elis Aspire (uploads over Wi-Fi). The other Bluetooth scales show weight without the phone and sync the rest when it is nearby.

Can several people use one smart scale?

Yes. The Etekcity, arboleaf and RENPHO scales recognize users automatically; the arboleaf stores eight profiles, the RENPHO scales support unlimited profiles, and most include a baby mode for weighing an infant in your arms.

Are smart scales safe with a pacemaker or during pregnancy?

No. Bioimpedance passes a small current through the body, and every maker here advises against use with a pacemaker or other implanted device and during pregnancy. Some scales offer a weight-only mode; otherwise use a conventional scale.

Which smart scale works with Apple Health?

All eight picks sync to Apple Health through their apps. The Etekcity and RENPHO scales also connect to Fitbit, Google Fit, Samsung Health or MyFitnessPal, and the RENPHO Elis Aspire has an Apple Watch app.
