What “925”, “gold-plated” and “vermeil” actually mean
925 sterling silver is 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for strength, and it should carry a “925” or “S925” stamp. It is what jewelers mean by “silver”. Pure silver is too soft for rings.
