Audio-Technica ATH-M20x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones, Black

So I got these yesterday, and I know I am not going to keep them for long (more on that later) so I want to get this review in ASAP. First off, while I know what I like & I can recognize quality, I am definitely NOT an audiophile, so I'm not going to try & tell you in TECHNICAL terms why these headphones are so great, but I can give a layman's perspective. For the price, these are pretty nice cans. Frequency response is pretty flat and clear to my ears. Not as resolving or detailed as my old ATH-M50 headphones, but I didnt expect them to be at 1/3 the cost. The M20X are fine for casual listening on a secondary setup like a Fiio R2R headphone amp. Vocals sound natural with good presence. Bass is there, though it could be a bit better defined. The highs are not harsh or forward. So they are pleasant to listen to. I like these headphones a lot. The sound is clear and balanced, especially for music, videos, and basic editing. They do not have an overly boosted bass sound, which I actually prefer because voices and instruments come through cleanly.They are comfortable enough for longer listening sessions, and the closed-back design helps cut down on some outside noise. These are really good. Has good bass and treble and crystal clear. I use them for studio recording but also have used them for gaming and they work good for that. The cable is really long so your not tangled up.

I just received these this morning, so this is just my first impression. I purchased these because my wife often has the TV on, while I prefer to listen to music. These are closed-back, so there is little sound leakage. I can't hear her TV, and she can't hear my music. My musical preferences are jazz (e.g., Rippingtons) and classic rock (Chicago, Journey, etc.). Both sound very good. The bass response is very good, but not exaggerated.
