Bates' Guide To Physical Examination and History Taking (Lippincott Connect)

This is a required book for my Psychiatric Nurse Practioner Advanced Assessment Class. It the main book on my desk in my study. I read the first chapter and found it easy to read and written in a way that it is not boring.

After anatomy and physiology class (Gray's Anatomy book) this text has educated decades of physicians on how to do a physical exam and gather an accurate medical history. Being that your patient assessment is the corner stone of all your therapies, getting it right matters. Add Stedmans Medical Dictionary, The Merck Manual, an ECG book and an ultrasound book (POCUS Point of Care Ultrasound). Get yourself a good stethoscope that you can hear with, a blood pressure cuff, an exam light, a notebook, pen/pencil and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) exam gloves, splash glasses and OR masks. The book arrived fast. Miss this book. Its very concise, informative and direct to the point discussion regarding the physical examination of a patient.

Helpful book to refresh oneself while in clinic.

Book is as described. HOWEVER. There is NO digital access! If you need the digital access for your class, you will NOT get it! For Lippincott Connect or ThePoint. I had to buy the same textbook.

Do NOT get the kindle version of this book. It is very difficult to navigate. Instead of being able to jump to different chapters easily, you have to scroll through the entire breakdown of each chapter (subheadings etc.). It is not easy to search terms or topics. I won't be buying a kindle textbook ever again. I'm going to stick with VitalSource textbooks. The book is exactly what I needed for class just wish I hadn't gotten the e-reader version.
