I wanted to use the b79 for a few weeks before writing my review. It’s a beast of a machine. Far more functionality than I was expecting. I will probably never use more than ¼ of its sewing capabilities. I plan to use it a lot more for embroidery. I’m still trying to figure out how Bernette managed to get the price so low. If you enjoy having to know everything about your machine to the point that you spend more time troubleshooting why its doing crazy things than sewing -- you'll enjoy this time suck and money pit. I cannot believe I spent close to $2000 on a machine that I constantly have to stop down and figure out -- does it hate the needle, not like the thread, need to be rethreaded AGAIN, the bobbin isn't to it's liking...it is literally just one thing after another. I admit I got frustrated at first. After a week of messing around with the program module that comes with it and the settings I was able to do what I originally bought this for.... Embroider everything LOL. The machine itself is nice, heavy but nice. It recommends this expensive embroidery thread but I use simthread, which I bought on Amazon, and haven't had any problems. The machine itself only lets you edit motifs or letters up or down 20%. If you need smaller or larger than that then you have to use the program and design it to fit your needs. Not sure I would purchase again, I have 2 other embroidery machines and I purchased this one for a backup machine.The needle threader doesn’t work if you are in a tight position next to the left side of the frame which makes it hard to get the needle threaded without having to remove the frame (when embroidering) Having to change the needle plate and the bobbin case is a real pain to switch to sewing.Bobbins are pretty temperamental.

I have not sewn much since my children and grand children are grown. However, with the need for masks for Covid I have been quite busy. I purchased this machine because of the brand name. It does everything that the Bernina does for less money. The reason that it costs less is because it is really not as sturdy . When I am sewing and I want to keep going the machine decides that it needs a nap. I have had several projects that needed a lot of buttonholes. I sewed 7 buttonholes perfectly with no problem. Then the machine will mess up the 8th buttonhole . I walk away from the machine overnight and the next day it will sew buttonholes but only a maximum of 7. This mandatory rest period is for everything except plain straight stit

I was excited to purchase this machine and explore the embroidery options. I am really disappointed! Within 6 months I started having trouble with the thread cutter. Also the thread tension would not hold consistently. It was either too tight which caused the thread cutter to cut too short so I was constantly having to rethread my machine. Also, in the middle of a seam I would loose tension and have to rip out and resew. Because of the tension problems I am unable to use the embroidery feature. This is definitely a Bernina knock off that should not be on the market. I will take it to a sewing
