Bought this for my wife to use in the flower bed. I have many other B+D 20v tools, so this seemed like an easy choice and I didn’t have to buy the battery for this one. Works well enough to turn over the soil in the flower bed. Not sure I would recommend it for large areas, though. I did use it to loosen up the ground in my backyard to plant some grass seeds (100 sq ft, hard soil, lots of weeds and roots)...worked better than using a ground rake, but it wasn’t as easy as I was hoping/expecting. I'm a fan of the no-till/deep mulch gardening method. However, I needed something to help me prepare garden beds from scratch (read: lawn) in compacted, unworked ground. Enter this tool.This is a cultivator, not a tiller. As such, it works on prepared soil, breaking up the larger pieces. It won't really work on previously-unworked soil, so I had to dig first and then run this cultivator over the area. Absolutely love this.It takes the work out of weeding small areas.ie flower beds, around trees, etc.

Works great. On loose soil. You have to turn it with your shovel. You can't start on soil that's not been turned over before.

Good for tilling soil before planting and after harvest. Helps removing weeds without disturbing rooted plants.

Fairly straight forward to put together. Great for tilling up 4'x8' raised beds, small patches for flowers, and yes even turning over the soil in 7 and 10 gallon grow bags ( but you have to be careful and not hit the bag, fairly easy, but it will tear up the bag, aim for the middle not the sides).
