My son usually understands science when the teacher explains it, then gets home and somehow forgets half of it by the time homework starts. What I like here is the sheer amount of practice.Matter, forces, energy, chemistry, electricity...he can keep working a topic until it stops looking unfamiliar. The answer explanations are important too because I don’t want him just checking a letter and moving on.

This book is advertised-- and the sample pages all show it-- as a color publication. It is NOT. Everything inside the covers is black and white. I ordered one, reported the issue, ordered another--came today, still black and white... It is printed on demand when you order it, but it will come to you as a black and white workbook.

Students usually need support first. Then they need to prove they can do it without the example sitting beside them. I like that progression.

She is very visual. If you explain waves with three paragraphs, she loses interest. Show her a labeled diagram and suddenly she’s asking questions. Same with circuits, atoms, forces, all that stuff. So the visual side is probably what would keep her engaged more than anything else.
