Sonos Amp - Black

Just a high-quality product. Certainly not cheap but just integrates very well, works very well, and provides fantastic music for a long time in the future. An investment in a system that has been wonderful for years.

The SONOS Amp will provide me sound for outdoor music and an outdoor TV under new screened porch. I will be switching to ethernet cable to SONOS Amp since wifi is cutting out occassionally thus losing SONOS Amp remote control interface with SONOS App but surprisingly music continues. I paired the Sonos Amp with two Polk Audio Atrium 8 speakers mounted above my outdoor hot tub area using approximately 80 feet of 12 AWG speaker wire per run, and the setup has been impressive so far.The power output of this amp is excellent. It drives the Atrium 8s effortlessly and produces strong, clean sound even outdoors where audio can easily get lost. Bass performance is surprisingly solid for an outdoor setup, and the amp has no problem filling the entire patio area with music. Sonos has gone downhill quickly. From their latest app update which is beyond horrible, to the quality of their very expensive products, the company must be in trouble. I had this set up in about 20 minutes, which is good, but could not delete my old amp from my list of products, nor could I hide it. Spent about 2 hours with tech support, but they could not solve the issue in the end, although the guy tried. But so be it, right? I have to start this review by admitting that I am a Sonos fan-boy and have been using versions of Sonos equipment for multi-room music since 2009. When I first got word that Sonos was introducing the Amp I struggled to understand what they were trying to accomplish but now that I have bought one my eyes have been opened.I initially replaced a receiver I had configured for 3.1 operation for our family room entertainment system. I was sick of having a separate remote for volume and my apple tv box and my apple tv remote not being able to adjust the volume of the amp. So, i decided to buy a couple of these Sonos amps. I was worried about the lack of center channel and I didn’t understand how to setup the sub. Once I started plugging things in, it started making more sense. I had to run more hdmi cables for my xbox and apple tv so they ran directly to the tv and the hdmi arc output went to this amp. Previously the two hdmi just went to the big amp, but this allows me to change the input with my tv remote, which is nice.

I have been a long time user of 5.1 and 7.2 systems with the traditional setup of an A/V receiver at the epicenter of my home theater. My tastes have changed with a slight bent more towards simplicity (less devices and wires) without compromising sound quality, but being able to achieve greater integration with my smart devices and apps like Spotify at the same time.
