Cable was getting was too expensive so a couple of months ago I decided to cut the cord. I checked Antenna Mans' web site and YouTube channel to get an antenna recommendation and it worked out great. I have an indoor antenna recommended by him mounted to the back of my 65" LG Webos TV and get 101 OTA channels through my TV.The one thing I missed though was the DVR function of the cable box to record stuff when I'm not around. My first Tablo 4th Generation 4-tuner DVR lasted only 6 months before dying. It worked until it didn’t. One day there was no blue light. Just dead. The company honored the warranty and sent me a new Tablo. The replacement has a different part number TF1284B-01-CN vs the original part number TF184B-01-CN.Tablo runs hot. My initial reaction to the Tablo Gen4 4 Tuner upon initial setup was "glad I got this from Amazon the return will be easy". Reason was this device does a pretty good job of scanning channels. I had my antenna set to my #1 direction which I commonly use and it scanned in 80 channels. Most of these channels are 100 miles away and picked-up on a $300 channelmaster antenna. Three things attracted me to the device: 1) No subscriptions for schedules 2) ability view recordings and live TV on other devices with the app 3) the price as compared to Tivo.Installation for the Tablo was easy and straight-forward as was the app install.First the pros - The Tablo records live TV with no apparent issues. I have been using this Tablo for 6 months now and wanted to share my experience with it. Do I have a faulty one? Not sure.Tablo works well in terms of recording my shows. Great. This is job #1 for this device. I can schedule shows to be recorded from any app that's connected to the device. This is nice, sometimes it's easier to schedule a show to record from my phone instead of booting up the TV. However, I cannot connect a PC to the Tablo. I have only had the Tablo for 3 days so I have not had a lot of opportunity for glitches. I have read some of the 1 star reviews and I can (happily) say I have not experience most of the issues mentioned.I set up the Tablo using only WiFi with no issues.
