I read book as a book as a break from my preferred fantasy novels and absolutely loved it. The plot was great and kept my interest. The alternating timelines took me a minute to get used to and there seemed to be a lot of different character POVs but they were all necessary for the story to make sense. I gave it 4 stars because Alice’s storyline was a let down for me. Can’t wait to watch this on Netflix and see if they can do it justice.

Great suspense without the unnecessary gore. Clean and unpredictable. Realistic characters and lovely balance between tragic and satisfying conclusion.If you like suspense, but want to be left feeling hopeful, this is good read for you.

This book kept me engaged and entertained. However, I feel like there were so many layers, characters, and secrets to keep up with. I also feel like the ending left a lot of questions and untied ends... or if they were "tied up" it felt rushed and loose. I did like the writing style and the storyline, just felt lacking a little. I would still recommend though.

I liked the book a lot from the beginning. Would give it a 4.5. The ending was peaceful but the book was long so confused why they rushed the ending after all that. But great book, good character development.

I’m debating along a 3 and 3.5. I did like the story and it keeps you wondering who did it and what’s happening. However with the many jumps between characters and timelines I sometimes found it hard to keep track. There are also a lot of unanswered questions that would have served for a better ending. I feel the authors intention was for us to play as investigators too and tie the different timelines and loopholes. In conclusion I did like it but I would have loved some more conversation in some topics and less in others that felt meaningless.

A fabulous, engrossing, can’t put down read! It moves at a breath taking pace….forward in time and back in time…..keeps you on yours toes! I have given this book to several of my friends who read both historical fiction and/or mysteries as well. The author writes in a way that grabs you from the start and doesn’t let you go. All the characters are fully developed and you feel like you could connect with many of them…or perhaps you feel like you know the others from another time in your own life. I'm used to fantasy and romance and am enjoying branching out, but one should know that I write this from the perspective of being used to an ending with a lot more closure.It took me a while to get into this book. I loved the idea of "The god of the woods" and the description of Pan(-ic) had me salivating. Once you include archetypal bits in a story I'm itching for more depth along this line. However, this book never expanded on that tantalizing bit, and felt a bit plodding for me. It took a long time for the mystery portion to really heat up, I didn't like being introduced to a new character
