This is the first book in the North Falls series, and one I’d been wanting to read for a while, so I picked it up as soon as I could with the next book’s release just around the corner.I have to say, this was a pretty emotionally heavy read. Be warned. Once you start We Are Guilty Here, you will not be able to stop. Another novel with great characters, engaging dialogue, sarcasm, humor, drama, thrills, chills, and endless twists. I highly recommend the audiobook for the amazing narration.

5 Stars • Karin Slaughter launches North Falls with a mystery that works because the characters feel complicated, flawed, and believable. As the search for two missing girls unfolds, loyalties shift and motives become harder to read. I cared as much about the people involved as I did about solving the case. A gripping start to the series, and I’m already invested in what comes next.

I loved this book, lots of unexpected twists and turns. But there was a few parts that slowed down a lot, making it a long read for me as I forced myself to continue it. The ending was wild, glad I didn’t give up!

In some ways, I’m sorry that I had to give this book only three stars because the plotting was definitely five. And some of the dialogue too. But the book gave me nightmares. The awfulness of the description of these serial (plot alert, but the book cover probably gave that away) killers just goes on and on. The description of what they do while they’re interacting with the law enforcement trying to catch them is so far over the top, I just couldn’t stand it. Another great book by. Karin. A lot to take in. Crimes that really surprised me with the descriptions told.You might need a strong stomach for this book and the details concerning children but I'm still glad I read it because Karin knows. how-to put out a he'll of a story.

Amazing story, and so well written! Karen's leading characters have all fallen into place, but out of left field comes another point of interest.
