Four cameras is the number that covers a typical house: front door, driveway, back garden and a side path or garage. A four-camera system bundles those cameras with a recorder, a hard drive and the cables, so you buy once, plug in and record around the clock with no monthly fee. The decisions are the recorder type (a PoE NVR for network cameras, a DVR for coaxial analog cameras, or a wireless hub for battery or Wi-Fi cameras), the resolution, and how much storage comes in the box. We ranked the four-camera kits in our smart-home catalog by resolution and night vision, recorder and included storage, person and vehicle detection, cabling and installation effort, expandability, and what owners report after living with them.
We have not installed every one of these ourselves; the verdicts rest on the spec sheets and the owner review history. Prices are not printed because they change daily; every button opens the live Amazon page. For a broader look at complete kits including two- and eight-camera packages, see our home security camera systems guide; if you have already decided on network cameras, our PoE security camera systems guide goes deeper on that type.
How we picked
- Four cameras and a recorder in one box. Every pick ships with four cameras plus an NVR, DVR or hub; the one kit without a hard drive is marked.
- Recording with no fee. Every system records locally to a hard drive, a hub or a card; cloud is optional where offered.
- Smart detection on the recorder or camera. Person and vehicle filtering on every pick, so alerts mean something.
- Night vision stated in feet, with color night vision called out where the cameras have it.
- Owner ratings of 4.0 stars or better, and six of the eight picks have more than 1,000 reviews.
The picks
ANNKE 8CH H.265+ 3K Lite Wired Security Camera System,4X 2MP Cam, 1TB HDD

The ANNKE 3K Lite kit is the four-camera system most people buy first, with 4,700 owners rating it 4.4 stars. Four 1080p analog cameras in IP67 housings connect by coaxial cable to an eight-channel DVR with a 1TB hard drive already installed, so you can expand to eight cameras and up to 10TB later. The DVR runs ANNKE’s AI motion detection 2.0 for human and vehicle filtering and lets you search recordings by those events, and the cameras switch between 100-foot infrared and 66-foot full-color night vision. The H.265+ compression stretches that drive to weeks of footage. It is a 1080p system in a 4K world, and analog means running a video cable and a power cable to each camera, but there is no monthly fee for anything and the owner history is the longest here. For a first system on a budget, buy this.
- 4,700 owners at 4.4 stars, the most-reviewed kit here
- Dual-light cameras: infrared or full-color night vision
- Eight channels, so four more cameras fit later
- 1TB drive in the box, expandable to 10TB
- 1080p cameras, the lowest resolution on the page
- Analog: two cables per camera (video and power)
- The DVR needs a monitor or the app for setup
REOLINK 8CH 5MP PoE Security Camera System RLK8-410B4-5MP Black

The RLK8-410B4 is the four-camera system to buy if you can run cables. Each 5MP bullet connects to the eight-channel NVR with a single Cat5 cable that carries power and video, and Reolink includes four 60-foot cables so most houses need nothing extra. The NVR has a 2TB drive pre-installed, records continuously or on events, and takes an external 8TB drive over eSATA when you want more; the cameras detect people, animals and vehicles so your phone is not buzzing for shadows. There is no subscription, the app and desktop client are free, and the digital PoE signal does not degrade over long runs the way analog can. Night vision is infrared only, so footage after dark is black and white. With 2,900 owners at 4.4 stars it is the most-trusted PoE kit in the catalog, and the four spare channels mean it grows with you.
- One cable per camera for power and video
- 5MP detail and 2TB of storage in the box
- Person, animal and vehicle filtering with no plan
- 2,900 owners at 4.4 stars
- Infrared night vision only on these cameras
- Black bullets are more visible than domes
- Needs a wired network run to each camera
REOLINK 5MP 8CH Home Security Camera System with 2TB HDD RLK8-520D4-5MP

The RLK8-520D4 is the same Reolink system as the RLK8-410B4 with dome cameras instead of bullets, and that choice matters more than it sounds. Domes mount flush under eaves and porch ceilings, are harder for a passer-by to knock off target and draw less attention. These four 5MP domes also have built-in microphones, so you hear as well as see what happened, and they reach about 100 feet in infrared. The eight-channel NVR has a 2TB drive pre-installed with room for an external 8TB, stores about ten days of continuous 5MP video before overwriting, and detects people, animals and vehicles. Everything is plug and play with no fees. Choose this over the bullet kit for a house with deep eaves, or a flat where cameras sit under a walkway; choose the bullets for open walls and long driveways. Owners rate it 4.4 stars across 2,800 reviews.
- Dome cameras are discreet and hard to re-aim or knock
- Built-in microphones record audio evidence
- Same NVR, 2TB drive and free app as the bullet kit
- 2,800 owners at 4.4 stars
- Domes suit soffits and ceilings more than open walls
- Infrared only at night
- Audio recording laws vary; check yours
aosu 2K QHD Solar Security Cameras Wireless Outdoor System, 4-Cam-Kit

The aosu kit is the four-camera system for a house where running cables is not an option: a rental, a brick exterior, a detached garage. Four 2K cameras run on batteries topped up by solar panels that need about two hours of direct sun a day, and video goes wirelessly to the aosuBase hub, which stores roughly two months of clips on 32GB with everything encrypted and nothing in the cloud unless you want it. Each camera sees 166 degrees, lights the scene with white spotlights for color at night, and the hub links related clips from different cameras into one timeline so you can follow someone around the house. The compromise is fundamental to battery cameras: they record events, not 24/7 video, and the hub is clip storage rather than a hard drive. For continuous recording you need one of the wired kits; for a no-drill install, 2,500 owners at 4.3 stars say this is the one.
- No cables at all: solar power and wireless video
- No subscription; clips stay on the hub
- Very wide 166-degree lens on each camera
- 2,500 owners at 4.3 stars
- 32GB hub holds clips, not 24/7 recording
- Battery cameras record events, not continuous video
- Needs sunlight; shaded walls may need manual charging
REOLINK 8CH 8MP/4K Security Bullet Camera System with 2TB HDD RLK8-800B4

The RLK8-800B4 is the four-camera kit for anyone who has zoomed into 1080p footage and found a blur where a face should be. Its four PoE bullets record true 4K, which Reolink puts at almost four times the detail of 1080p, and the eight-channel NVR supports up to 12 cameras in total, mixing Reolink PoE and plug-in Wi-Fi models from 4MP to 16MP, so a Duo or a PTZ can join later. The 2TB drive is pre-installed and expands to 16TB, the cameras filter people, vehicles and animals, and the app is free. The cost of 4K is that it fills storage faster and the kit is the most expensive wired system on this page; night vision is also infrared only. Reolink backs it with a two-year warranty, and 1,100 owners rate it 4.3 stars. If detail is the priority, this is where to spend.
- Four times the detail of 1080p for plates and faces
- Mixes PoE and Wi-Fi Reolink cameras on one NVR
- 2TB drive, expandable to 16TB
- 2-year warranty
- Costs the most of the wired kits here
- 4K files fill the drive faster
- Infrared night vision only
ZOSI 3K Lite Security Camera System Indoor Outdoor,AI Human/Vehicle Detection,Night Vision,Remote Access,4pcs 1080P 1920TVL Weatherproof Surveillance Cameras,H.265+ 8CH 5MP Lite CCTV DVR(NO HDD)

The ZOSI 3K Lite is the four-camera kit stripped to the essentials, and it is the least expensive system on the page because of one omission: there is no hard drive in the box. You add any 3.5-inch SATA drive from 500GB to 2TB, which is a ten-minute job and lets you choose a proper surveillance drive. Beyond that it is a complete system: four 1080p weatherproof cameras, an eight-channel H.265+ DVR that also accepts TVI, CVI and AHD cameras for expansion, AI human and vehicle detection with push and email alerts, and a free app for live view and playback. The camera bodies are ABS plastic rather than metal, and it is analog, so each camera needs a video and a power cable. For a shed, a small shop or a first system where the budget is the whole story, 1,400 owners at 4.2 stars say it does the job.
- The cheapest four-camera kit here
- Eight-channel DVR with human and vehicle AI
- Lets you choose your own hard drive
- 1,400 owners at 4.2 stars
- No hard drive in the box
- 1080p cameras with ABS plastic bodies
- Analog cabling, two cables per camera
XMARTO 10X Zoom Mesh WiFi6 PTZ AI Tracking Security Camera System,4-Cam Kit
The XMARTO kit is the only four-camera system here where every camera moves: four 2K dual-lens PTZ cameras pan, tilt, zoom 10x with a hybrid optical and digital system, and follow a person automatically, so one camera covers a yard that would otherwise need two. Video travels over Wi-Fi 6 mesh to a 10-channel NVR with a 1TB drive, and each camera also records to its own SD card with optional AWS cloud as a third layer. Night vision reaches 150 feet in infrared with a 20-foot color floodlight, there is two-way audio and a siren, and it works with Alexa. The cameras are wireless for video only and still plug into mains power, and the 4.0-star average from 640 owners reflects some Wi-Fi drop-outs at the edge of range. For a large plot where fixed cameras leave gaps, it is a unique option.
- Every camera pans, tilts, zooms and tracks on its own
- Wi-Fi 6 mesh cameras, no video cables
- Three storage layers: NVR, SD card and cloud
- 150 ft infrared range
- 4.0 stars: owners report Wi-Fi drop-outs at long range
- Cameras still need mains power
- Fewer reviews than the wired kits
ANNKE 16CH 4K NVR with 4 x 3MP Outdoor Wireless Security Camera System, 1TB

The ANNKE wireless kit answers the question battery systems cannot: how do I get 24/7 recording without running video cables? Its four 3MP IP66 cameras send video over dual-band Wi-Fi to a 16-channel NVR with a 1TB drive pre-installed, so you get continuous recording and a two-week or longer timeline rather than motion clips. Each camera has two-way audio, switches between infrared and full-color night vision, and feeds the NVR’s AI human detection for alerts. ANNKE is clear that wireless means no video cable, not no cable: every camera and the NVR plug into mains, and five power adapters are in the box. It is 3MP rather than 2K or 4K, and with 350 reviews at 4.0 stars it has the shortest track record here. For a brick house with outdoor outlets but no way to pull Ethernet, it fills a real gap.
- Wireless video with a real 1TB hard drive for 24/7 recording
- 16 channels for a big expansion later
- Dual-band Wi-Fi for a steadier link
- Color or infrared night vision, two-way audio
- 4.0 stars and only 350 reviews so far
- Cameras need an outlet each; wireless means no video cable only
- 3MP is the lowest resolution of the wireless kits

PoE, DVR or wireless?
The three Reolink kits are PoE: one Ethernet cable per camera for power and video, digital signal with no loss over distance, and the most resolution per dollar. They are the right choice for a new build or any house where you can pull cable through a loft or along a soffit. The ANNKE 3K Lite and ZOSI kits are analog DVR systems: cheaper, 1080p, and two cables per camera, best for replacing an older coax system or when the budget is the whole story. The aosu, XMARTO and ANNKE wireless kits send video over Wi-Fi; the aosu is the only one that also needs no power cable, because it runs on solar. Wireless is easier to install and worse at everything else: range, continuous recording and interference.
Storage: how many days will you keep?
Six kits ship with a hard drive: 1TB in the ANNKE kits and the XMARTO, 2TB in the three Reolinks, all expandable. Reolink says its 5MP kits hold about ten days of continuous footage on 2TB before overwriting; the 1080p ANNKE with H.265+ will stretch 1TB further, and the 4K Reolink will fill 2TB sooner. The ZOSI has no drive, so budget for a surveillance-grade 1TB or 2TB disk. The aosu hub has 32GB and stores event clips, which it rates at about two months for four cameras; that is a different kind of storage, fine for alerts and useless for scrubbing through a quiet night. If retention matters, buy a wired kit and add a second drive.
Detection, audio and expansion
Every system here filters alerts: human and vehicle on the ANNKE and ZOSI DVRs, person, animal and vehicle on the Reolinks, human only on the ANNKE wireless NVR, and auto tracking on the XMARTO. For audio, the Reolink domes have microphones, and the XMARTO and ANNKE wireless cameras have two-way talk. On expansion, every recorder has spare channels: four spare on the eight-channel kits, up to 12 on the RLK8-800B4 and 16 on the ANNKE wireless. If four cameras is one too few from the start, our wireless security camera systems guide includes three-, four- and eight-camera wire-free kits, and our 4K security cameras guide covers single add-on cameras to grow a system.
Do four-camera security systems need a subscription?
None of these eight do. The DVR and NVR kits record to their hard drives, the aosu records to its hub, and the apps are free. Cloud storage is optional on the XMARTO and a few others, never required.
Can I add more cameras to a 4-camera kit?
Yes. Every recorder here has eight or more channels, so four more cameras fit, and the Reolink RLK8-800B4 takes up to 12. Match the camera type: PoE cameras for the Reolink NVRs, analog for the ANNKE and ZOSI DVRs, aosu cameras for the aosu hub.
Is a PoE system hard to install?
It is the easiest wired option: one cable per camera, plugged into the NVR, no separate power. The work is routing the cable through walls or soffits. Reolink includes four 60 ft cables; longer runs need a longer Cat5e or Cat6 cable.
Which 4-camera system is best with no cables at all?
The aosu 2K solar 4-cam kit. Its cameras run on solar-charged batteries and send video wirelessly to a hub, so nothing is drilled or wired. The trade-off is event clips rather than 24/7 recording.
How many days of video does a 1TB or 2TB drive hold?
Reolink rates its 5MP kits at about ten days on 2TB with continuous recording. A 1080p DVR with H.265+ on 1TB holds a similar or longer span; 4K fills 2TB faster. Motion-only recording multiplies every figure several times.
