This router has impressed me. Before hand I was using a Linksys WRT32X which is similar to the Linksys 3200ACM. I would run my whole network through a VPN (ExpressVPN) to be exact. It would bogg down my network speed to 50mbps up and down. This Asus GT-AC2900 can run my VPN at 220mps down and 180mbps up without a problem through OpenVPN. In the past I've used L2TP encrycrption on a TP-link 3200 archer and was able to achieve 100mbps but that router died. When I first received this router it was nothing but trouble. The 2.4 GHz band was the first culprit not producing the amount of data that it should even at a very close proximity. The 5.0. Ghz band was great to begin with but devices would periodically fall off of it as it would stop emitting a signal and show back up 30 seconds to a minute later. However, switching "WPA-Auto-Personal" to strictly "WPA2-Personal" in the "Authentication Method" drop down selector may or may not stop it if this concerns you. Turns out it's not a big deal. From the years 2017 to 2022, I found myself replacing my ISP-issued router every six months due to boot loop errors plaguing my online experience.
