DEWALT Plunge Base For Compact Router, Steel Rods for Smooth Plunge Stroke (DNP612)

Recently acquired the Dewalt compact router and figured I need to get the plunge base. Or it was a good excuse to buy more tools? Anyways, of course it fits the router perfectly. You do need to take of the plastic height adjustment ring as it hits on the one column cover. Not like you need it, it is a plunge base. Although, it would be kind of nice if it did work, you could dial down the height, so you don't have to plunge so far each time, if you are using it for a long time.The build quality is pretty much perfect, what you would expect from a Dewalt tool. Routers are kinda funny. Not the first tool you buy but a few years down the road you realize you somehow own 3 of them; Palm, 2.25 HP Fixed/Plunge, and the upside down one in your Router Table. Works very well and easy to use with a consistent outcome

So far i really enjoy the base and like it better than the palm base that came with my dewalt dcw600 router. It allows you to plunge route along locking it in place to have a fixed based just make sure to release the lock slowly to keep tension off spring when not routing. Feels comfortable like a fixed based with the plunge and adjustability.

I love this thing, makes my 1/4" trim router turn into something much more useful, and become my most used router by far. There is one big issue though, if you put it on without realizing, it can block the on/off switch on the DeWalt 20v. So a star is removed for ergonomics on that. It works fine, you just have to make sure you put it on properly or it will block the on/off switch, which I find to be pretty annoying when you're just slapping it all together. I was about to buy a knock-off plunge router that uses a DeWalt battery, and then I found this for 20 bucks cheaper. This uses the DeWalt 20V palm router that I already have. I'm completely impressed by the build quality. I know I would have been sorely disappointed with the knockoff, but I figured I wouldn't be using it that much at my hobby level. Now I've got a good quality plunge base that moves as smoothly as silk with no plat in it.

Great addition to the compact router. Works as it should.
