This is a very effective trash can for pet owners or anyone who wants a trash can with a lid that they don’t need to touch. The lid can be locked closed, and the motion sensor has not malfunctioned in months of use. I got the battery powered model, and finding a cord for it has been slightly difficult as they are difficult to find sold separately from the trash can, and the cords I have found have been more than I want to spend (~$20). Was excited for this product as I was looking for a pet proof and touchless trash bin. I received the order put in the batteries, turned it on and it doesn't work... so that was pointless. Yes I checked that the batteries were in correctly and the batteries were brand new from the store. I have contacted customer service but they are closed on the weekends so I guess I will wait to see if they can ship me a new top. We purchased this trash can just over 2 months ago, hoping it would be pet-proof, as our older dog had taken up trash picking. I have two main complaints about this can that prevent me from recommending it.Firstly, after only two months of use, the can's lid no longer opens. Everything is fine from a seller, shipper, packing standpoint. I do have an issue with the manufacturer who does not sell repair parts which forces you to buy a whole new unit or a replacement top which costs most the. The whole can and top together. The design is poor and these are prone to break so once this one does will be buying another brand

Works perfect until it breaks. We had one for 3 years and then it broke but we loved it so we had to buy a 2nd. This second broke after a little more than 18 months. We love it, but I'm not really fan of having to dish out ~$80 every 18 to 36 months so now we have to reconsider if we want to keep doing this or not. Might try to find a competitor that is cheaper/more durable.

This is a great idea, but the design need some work this thing runs off of batteries or an AC adapter ( that doesn't come with the order, by the way). It reliably opens with the wave of a hand over the sensor, and closes automatically. If that's all you're using it for, that's fantastic, it will work for you just fine. If you are using this also because you want a trash can that locks so that your golden retriever can't get into the trash every time you turn your back, then this is not the trash can for you. If you don't turn the manual lock, the lid can still be nudged up by man's best friend
