Take Me To Your Leader: Practical Advice for Your First Alien Encounter

This is Neil deGrasse Tyson @ his best. Funny, informative & as usual entertaining. I’ve read most of his books because I like to pretend I’m smart. This is a simple, quick read. 2 or 3 long soaks in the tub & it’s over all too soon. It’s easily relatable because of the references are all things we know, watch or hear our entire life.Mr. Tyson tops my lists of people I’d most like to meet.

When I first started reading, I thought this might be too advanced as far as my basic scientific knowledge. But as he dissected the theory of alien existence, adding his humor, and movie comparisons on the subject, I actually was able to follow along. I did enjoy it. I was hoping to see more positive evidence of alien existence, but not so sure now. Thought provoking!

I'm still working my way through this one and I keep stopping to sit with it. What makes Take Me to Your Leader so good isn't just the subject — it's Tyson's approach. He takes a question we usually leave to Hollywood and runs it through the actual laws of physics, and in doing so he quietly dismantles how much ego is baked into the way we picture aliens: humanoid, two eyes, a head, basically us in a costume. Why would a being from another star system share any of that, or even have DNA at all?The real magic is that by getting us to imagine the truly alien, he turns the lens back around. You s

Great reading book yet it’s odd that little over a year ago Neil was all over TV stating aliens don’t exist & now he’s warning us what we need to do when we first meet them.Does he know something we don’t???Neil is as great writing as he is talking & Always funny, informative & especially entertaining. He’s an extremely smart guy that can talk & write where anyone can read, listen, understand & enjoy what he has to say.One of the better books I’ve read in years. I will probably be reading it again before too long.

This is a short but interesting and truly fascinating book, and I liked the author's description of what to do with your first alien encounter. IN part because my wife and I are writing a novel on a famous UFO encounter that occurred in rural Kentucky in 1955, and gave us the term "little green men." I used to write for UFO Magazine, and have written books on the subject that were NOT novels, but factual (as I see them) real encounters with something Not of This Earth. Great book, you learn a lot with Neil DeGrasse Tyson's sense of humor & intelligence.

He found an interesting topic to educate readers on astrobiology, chemistry, physics and critical/rational thinking. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.

DeGrasse Tyson is an esteemed astrophysicist . This book is a humorous guide as to what to do if the reader should encounter an alien. It is based on real hard science. I thought it an easy fun read and thought provoking.
