I was a bit disappointed that the instruction manual didn’t have instructions for a cake (or any recipes). I used the “refined cook” (aka rice) setting and I restarted it once after it automatically switched to keep warm. I was really impressed that my cake came out perfectly! Tried out our new rice cooker last night. It has several settings, For different things like steamed vegetables, different kinds of rice, soup, and porridge. It comes with a main bowl/pan, steamer insert, spatula/spoon/ladle, and a measuring cup. The measuring cup is only 3/4 cup (serving size?) but when you read the instructions and it says 2 cups of rice, it means two cups of the enclosed cups of rice. There are some things about this rice cooker that I like. I like the size of it. It’s not too big. I also like how sleek it looks on the counter. I love that. For the price ($97.99 at the time of this writing), I want a lot more from it.The instructions that come with the machine are really minimal, so there's a lot of trial-and-error involved to making a pot of rice. I actually have yet to make a great rice with this cooker, and I make delicious rice all the time without one.The instructions for a standard white rice (I typically use jasmine) say the optimal proportion is two "scoops" (two of their included plastic cups, totaling 1.5 actual cups of rice), plus water up to the "2" mark inside the pot.
