For this price point this is an amazing machine. It has an extremely sturdy frame which appears to be cast iron. The quality of the stitches is spot on and it comes threaded and ready to go. For quite a bit under $200, this is a very well built machineSo what are the negatives...The supplied starter set of mini-spools of thread are some of the worst thread I have ever seen. Constant frays and creats an awful lot of fuzzies. It also breaks easily. In fact, broke on thread #4 on my first test of the machine. Update: the previous machine failed to stitch properly, and Amazon sent a replacement.the new one it very even. Needs to be broken in but I did a probity it this weekend and it worked well. Has organ needles in it. Looks like older model design on the inside of the body that has had a newly designed case around it. Everything is metal and I appreciate that. Still needs to be oiled.Initial Post:Seems to work just fine however this machine will come bone dry. BONE DRY.You need to take the plastic covers off the frame and lightly oil this machine!!!!! This is a modern take on a Riccar Serger.Pros: This is a solid metal machine with a few plastic shell parts. It sews very well once it is tuned in.Cons,This machine takes some time to tune properly. There are no Numbers on the thread tension gauge, so you have to go by feel first and then tune it.There are NO BELLS OR WHISTLES, this is a VERY basic serger, it comes with TWO different needle plates 1 for standard serging, the other for Roll sergering.There is NO lower looper thread helper, BUT the path is open and easy to thread the back catch with a pair of tweezers (which were provided)TIP: R

I have sewed the heck out of stuff and this thing is awesome! I'm using some ginormous thread in it and it flat gets things done. Highly recommended and will buy again if it ever dies. FYI - I'm using mine with a variable speed foot pedal to slow it down a little so I can think about what I'm doing. I'm not really using it hand held as a bag sewing machine. Instead I clamp it in my vice and use it like a regular sewing machine. Fast and furious if you want to be.

Still trying to figure it out.Color coding for right needle is incorrect. Where they mentioned green I have pink.I expected a better rolled edge but still trying to see where I go wrong . I am so used to my previous serger with perfect rolled edge stitches for napkins,table cloths etc so I'm trying to achieve same.I give it a 4 .Good price.
