If you're looking for a great budget AV receiver, this is an excellent choice. It supports Dolby Atmos, 4K/120, eARC, and all the modern features most people need without a lot of unnecessary extras. This is a nice unit. The remote has a switch on the side. I could not adjust the volume or mute until I read some reviews here about the switch. Up direction for mine and it now works. Also there is only one output for the subwoffer. not stereo like all others. I had to buy an amp since mine was passive. The mono amp has two inputs but only one is used. It works fine but I found that strange. There are two subwoffer outputs for two subwoffers each only uses a single cable. I like that it has the foot underneath in the middle so when setting it on my cabinet for speakers etc. hook up it stays o

What a great av receiver for this price point. Replacing a Yamaha of a similar place in the lineup from 35 years ago. This one is much better for the moder era, and I paid 1/3rd for it in 2026 as opposed to the one I bought in the 90sIf you don't need hundreds of watts per channel, or true Atmos because you're still rocking your 5.1 setup, this is the right choice. My only complaint is the remote isn't backlit.

I read another review here that mentioned the unit sounded thin and tinny, and I cannot agree more. The YPAO setup tilts extremely bright and hollow. I purchased this to replace an RX-V385, the previous generation entry level receiver. The only real difference between that receiver and this one is it has full 4K 120HZ passthrough. Bought this to replace and older unit I have had for years. The setup for this was strange. The wire hook-up in the back were similar to the one it was replacing, which was nice. Swapped out easily. The instructions and the onscreen set-up was all bad. This unit, although supposed to be an upgrade, just doesn't offer as much as my previous unit (also a Yamaha). Sound quality is just off and there isn't as many preset options, sports, movies, etc. I would return it if I didn't want to go through setting another one up.I'm positive there are better options out there, steer clear of this one.

I adore the yamaha audio setup function, whatever they call it. I took the mike out of the box, spent 1 minute waiting for the tuning to complete and it was perfect across my five speakers and two subs. I tried to beat the setup by tweaking and tuning it in a manual mode. I could not beat the algorithm. Thus, I attest, this is a great feature and I love this equipment for my home cinema.

The rx300 is a great unit. Set up was simple. Works great. Better than my Denon and Sony 597.price was good too.

Works great. Setup through TV. Easy enough and has some great start-up options. You can program 4 Scenes and quick access them on the remote. Pleased with the sound.
