Best Baby Teethers in 2026: Silicone, Mitt, Fruit and Crinkle Teethers Ranked by Owners

Eight baby teethers ranked by material, texture, grip, freezer use and owner reviews: the 4-pack fruit set, RaZbaby Chompy, TYRY.HU tools, Baby Paper, Munch Mitt, Loulou Lollipop, Innobaby, Nuby.

Our top pickBaby Teething Toys 3-6 Months, Baby Chew…9.4Our score

A teether has one job: give a baby with swollen gums something safe, cool and textured to bite on so that nobody has to listen to the alternative. The good ones are made of a single piece of food-grade silicone or natural rubber, are small enough for a four-month-old to steer to the sore spot, survive the dishwasher and the freezer, and have no parts that can work loose. We ranked the teethers in our baby catalog by material, by how the texture is arranged, by whether a baby who cannot yet hold things can still use it, by freezer and dishwasher safety, by the age range the maker states, and by what thousands of parents report after weeks of chewing.

We have not chewed any of these ourselves; the verdicts rest on the published specs and on the owner review history. Prices are not printed because they change daily; every button opens the live Amazon page. This guide deliberately skips the picks in our earlier baby teething toys guide, so the two together cover the field, and if you are kitting out a nursery our baby monitor cameras guide is the other half of the job. Do Best Deal ranks on owner history and spec sheets, not samples.

How we picked

  • Owner history. Every pick has hundreds to several thousand owner reviews, and all but one rate very highly; the one exception is marked and explained.
  • One piece, or no loose parts. Silicone teethers here are moulded as a single piece; the fabric picks have no beads, cords or detachable rings.
  • Food-grade materials stated. BPA-free food-grade silicone or washable CPSIA-tested fabric. We note where the maker cites a standard.
  • Fit for small hands. We favoured shapes with a handle, loop or mitt strap that a three-to-six-month-old can actually use, and noted which reach the back gums.
  • Easy to clean. Dishwasher or boil-safe silicone, or machine-washable fabric; freezer-safe picks are called out, since cold is half the relief.

Baby Teething Toys 3-6 Months, Baby Chew Teether Toys
MaterialFood-grade silicone, BPA freeIn the box4 teethers (giraffe, peach, grape, banana toothbrush) with storage boxAges3 months and upCleaningRinse, boil or steam steriliseFreezer safeYesTextureMixed shapes with raised bumps and bristles

This four-pack is the set most parents should start with, and several thousand owner reviews with a strong owner rating say the same. You get a giraffe, a peach, a grape cluster and a banana-shaped toothbrush teether, each moulded from food-grade, BPA-free silicone in a different texture, so a baby who rejects one shape usually takes to another. They rinse clean under the tap, tolerate boiling water and steam sterilisers, and chill well in the freezer for a sore afternoon. The included box is the underrated part: it keeps four small teethers together in the nappy bag instead of scattered through the house. The weaknesses are the ones that come with the price: it is an unbranded import with no cited safety standard beyond the BPA claim, and the textures are gentle rather than aggressive. For most babies between three and twelve months that is exactly right.

Pros
  • Four different shapes and textures in one box, so one usually suits the sore spot
  • Several thousand owner reviews with a strong owner rating, the most-trusted set here
  • Boil and steam sterilise safe; a storage box keeps them off the floor
  • Banana toothbrush doubles as a gum massager
Cons
  • Generic brand; no named safety certification beyond BPA free
  • Small pieces are easy to lose under the sofa
  • Bumps are gentle, so heavy chewers may want the Innobaby

RaZbaby Soft Silicone Infant & Baby 3M+ Teether Toy Massaging Bristles Teething Relief Pacifier, Chompy Teether
Material100% soft silicone, free of BPA, PVC, phthalates and leadStandardsUS CPSC and EU EN 71Ages3 months and upFreezer safeYesCleaningBoil 5 minutes before first use, then rinseDesignPacifier-shaped mouthpiece with massaging bristles and a two-handed grip

RaZbaby built the Chompy for the baby who already loves a pacifier: the mouthpiece is dummy-shaped and covered in soft silicone bristles that massage the gums as the baby sucks and chews, and the ring handle gives two hands something to hold. It is made from 100 percent soft silicone with no BPA, PVC, phthalates or lead, and RaZbaby states compliance with both US Consumer Product Safety standards and the European EN 71 toy standard, which most budget teethers do not claim. It freezes well and sterilises in boiling water. Thousands of owner reviews rate it highly. The honest downsides are that the bristles hold onto milk and need a proper scrub, and the whole thing is bigger than a normal dummy, so a very young baby may not keep it in without help. From about four months on it tends to become the favourite.

Pros
  • Pacifier shape means babies who already take a dummy accept it immediately
  • Patented massaging bristles reach between the gums
  • Meets both US CPSC and EU EN 71 standards, rare at this price
  • Thousands of owner reviews with a strong owner rating
Cons
  • Bristles trap milk residue and need a scrub, not just a rinse
  • Larger than a dummy, so newborns can struggle to keep it in
  • Single colour pair per pack

TYRY.HU Baby Teething Toys for Babies 0-6 Months 6-12 Months, BPA Free Silicone Baby Molar Teether Chew Toys, Hammer Wrench Spanner Pliers
MaterialFood-grade silicone; no PVC, cadmium, lead or phthalatesIn the box2 tool-shaped teethers in different coloursTexturesRaised dots, curved ridges, massage strips and wavy bumpsAges0 to 12 monthsFreezer safeYes; also dishwasher, microwave and steam safeGripHandle sized for small hands

The TYRY.HU set is the one for a baby who wants to really bite. Each tool-shaped teether carries four textures, raised dots, curved ridges, vertical massage strips and wavy bumps, arranged along a head that a baby can push to the back of the mouth using the handle, which is where emerging molars hurt. The silicone is food grade with no PVC, cadmium, lead or phthalates, and the maker rates it safe for the dishwasher, the microwave, the freezer and a steam steriliser, so cleaning is whatever is nearest. The compact size is a deliberate redesign of a larger original. More than a thousand owners give it an excellent rating. You get two pieces rather than four, they are a touch heavier than a plain ring, and the product is newer than the RaZbaby, but as a molar teether it is the best-textured thing on this page.

Pros
  • Four distinct textures on each piece, more than any other pick
  • Handle shape lets a baby push the head to the back gums
  • Dishwasher, microwave, freezer and steam-steriliser safe
  • Excellent owner rating across more than a thousand reviews
Cons
  • Tool shapes are cute but slightly heavier than a simple ring
  • Only two pieces per pack
  • Newer product with a shorter track record than the RaZbaby

Baby Paper Crinkle Sensory Toy & Teether, Gingham Pink Print, Washable Gift
MaterialFabric with crinkle layer; BPA free, non-toxicStandardsCPSIA testedSize6 x 6 inchesAges0 to 2 yearsCleaningMachine washableSoundCrinkly paper sound

Baby Paper is a six-inch square of soft fabric with a crinkle layer inside, developed by a mother who needed something to keep her babies occupied at restaurants. As a teether it works differently from the silicone picks: there is no hard texture, just fabric that feels good against new gums and makes a paper-crinkle sound every time it is squished, which is why it suits newborns who cannot yet hold a ring. It is BPA free, CPSIA tested and machine washable, which no silicone teether here can claim, and it folds flat into any bag. Thousands of parents rate it highly, mostly for how reliably it calms a baby in a car seat. It will not give a determined eight-month-old the counter-pressure of silicone and it cannot be chilled, so think of it as the first teether and the travel teether rather than the only one.

Pros
  • Quiet, mess-free and small enough for the youngest babies to grab
  • Machine washable, unlike every silicone pick
  • CPSIA tested; made for restaurants, cars and planes
  • Thousands of owner reviews with a strong owner rating
Cons
  • Fabric gives less gum pressure than silicone
  • Cannot be frozen for cold relief
  • One square per pack

Best teething mitt for babies who cannot hold yet

Malarkey Kids Munch Mini Combo Baby Teething Mitt Set (0-7 Months)

8.8Our score
Malarkey Kids Munch Mini Combo Baby Teething Mitt Set (0-7 Months)
In the boxMunch Mini anti-scratch mitts (0-3 months) and a Munch Mitt teether (3-7 months)Material100% food-grade silicone cap on soft fabricDesignDouble-sided flip cap: textured silicone for teething, fabric for anti-scratchFitAdjustable strap, worn like a mittenCleaningMachine washable, low tumble dryExtrasCrinkle sound and high-contrast patterns

The Munch Mitt solves the problem every other teether has: babies under six months drop things. Worn like a mitten with an adjustable strap, it puts a textured food-grade silicone cap exactly where the fist goes, so the baby chews whenever the hand reaches the mouth, which is constantly. This combo pack adds Munch Mini mitts for the newborn stage, which protect the face from scratches and flip to a soft fabric side, so the set grows from birth to about seven months. Both are machine washable and carry a crinkle layer and high-contrast patterns for tummy time. It is the most expensive pick here and has the lowest owner rating of the eight, a solid rather than stellar one across well over a thousand reviews; the critical ones are about the strap slipping on very small wrists and how quickly the fabric soaks through. For the hands-free stage, though, nothing else does this job.

Pros
  • No grip needed; a three-month-old can self-soothe
  • Two stages in one set, from newborn scratch mitts to a teething mitt
  • Patented silicone cap flips between chew side and soft side
  • Machine washable
Cons
  • Lowest owner rating on this page, though still solidly positive; fit and strap complaints are the common ones
  • Priciest teether here
  • Fabric gets soggy fast and needs frequent washing

Loulou Lollipop Baby Silicone Teether, Sensory Play, Non-Toxic, Food Grade
Material100% food-grade silicone meeting FDA standards; no BPA, PVC, phthalates, lead or cadmiumDesignOne-piece, lightweight, raised textures on both sidesAges4 months and upFreezer safeYesCleaningTop-rack dishwasher safeGripShaped for small hands to hold and guide

Loulou Lollipop is a recognised baby-accessories brand, and its silicone teether shows what that buys: a single piece of 100 percent food-grade silicone that the maker says meets FDA standards and is free of BPA, PVC, phthalates, lead and cadmium, with raised textures on both sides and a lightweight shape a baby can guide to the right spot. It goes in the freezer for cold relief and on the top rack of the dishwasher afterwards, and because there are no seams or inserts there is nowhere for water to hide. Several hundred owners give it a strong rating and praise how well it holds up to months of chewing. You pay more for one teether than the budget sets charge for four, the texture is moderate rather than deep, and the recommended age starts at four months. For a gift, or for the baby who already has a basic set, it is the quality pick.

Pros
  • One-piece silicone with raised texture on both faces
  • Freezer safe and top-rack dishwasher safe
  • Lists the full set of excluded chemicals and cites FDA standards
  • Strong owner rating from several hundred reviews; a known baby brand
Cons
  • Single teether per pack at a higher price than the multi-packs
  • Textures are moderate, not deep
  • Recommended from 4 months, later than some

Innobaby Original EZ Grip Fruit Teether 3 Piece Set - Grape/Citrus/Berry
In the box3 teethers: grape, citrus and berryDesignEZ Grip handle that lets a baby direct the head to front or back gumsReachDesigned for front and back teethMaterialSoft teether heads on a firm grip handleAgesTeething babiesExtrasThree textures across the set

Innobaby designed the EZ Grip teethers around a specific complaint: most teethers are too short to reach the back gums where molars come through, and too hard for a baby to hold. Each of the three fruit heads sits on a long, firm handle that a baby can grip and steer, so the soft textured head reaches the back teeth as easily as the front. The grape, citrus and berry heads give three different textures. Several hundred owners rate it excellently, and the reviews that mention molars are the most enthusiastic on this page. It costs more per piece than any other pick, and because it reaches further the maker’s advice to supervise is worth taking seriously, since a determined baby can push it a long way back. For the molar stage, from about eight months onward, it is the teether that works when the rings stop helping.

Pros
  • Long handle reaches molars that rings and squares cannot
  • Three fruit textures in one set
  • Excellent owner rating from several hundred reviews
  • Easy for little hands to hold and aim
Cons
  • Priciest set here per piece
  • Longer teether needs supervision so it is not pushed too far back
  • Fewer reviews than the budget sets

Nuby NanaNubs Banana Massaging Toothbrush and Silicone Carrot Teether
In the boxBanana massaging toothbrush and carrot teetherMaterial100% soft siliconeAges3 months and upUseBanana brush is parent-held for gums and first teeth; carrot teether is for baby to holdTexturesPliable bristles on the banana, multiple textures on the carrotBrandNuby

Nuby’s NanaNubs pack pairs a banana-shaped massaging toothbrush with a carrot-shaped teether, both in 100 percent soft silicone. The banana is the clever part: its pliable bristles let a parent massage sore gums and brush the first teeth without a hard brush, which the maker positions as a parent-held tool rather than a free-chew teether. The carrot is the baby’s own teether, with several textures along its length for little hands to hold. Several hundred owners give the pair an excellent rating, and Nuby has been making feeding and teething gear for decades, which counts for something in a category full of unknown brands. The bristles do wear down under a heavy chewer, and the carrot on its own is simpler than the TYRY.HU tools, but as a first gum-care kit it is cheap and genuinely useful.

Pros
  • Two jobs in one pack: a gum brush for you and a teether for the baby
  • Soft bristles clean first teeth as well as soothe
  • Excellent owner rating from several hundred reviews; a long-established brand
  • Inexpensive
Cons
  • Banana brush is meant to be held by a parent, not chewed unsupervised
  • Bristles wear with heavy chewing
  • Carrot teether alone is fairly basic

Silicone, rubber or fabric?

Food-grade silicone is the default for good reason: it is soft but firm, it moulds as one piece with no seams, it tolerates boiling water, steam sterilisers and the freezer, and it does not hold odours. Every silicone pick here states it is free of BPA, and the better ones (RaZbaby, Loulou Lollipop, TYRY.HU) also list PVC, phthalates, lead and cadmium as excluded and cite a standard. Fabric teethers like Baby Paper and the Munch Mitt trade gum pressure for softness and a crinkle, which is what a two-month-old actually wants, and they are the only picks that go in the washing machine. Natural rubber, the material of the famous giraffe in our other guide, is softer still but cannot be boiled or frozen. Match the material to the stage: fabric for newborns, silicone from about three months, long-handled silicone for molars.

Which shape for which age

Before a baby can hold anything reliably, which is roughly three to four months, a mitt or a crinkle square is the only teether that will stay put; that is the Munch Mitt and Baby Paper. Once grasping arrives, small loops and handles matter more than texture: the four-pack set, the Loulou Lollipop and the Nuby carrot are sized for that. From six months the baby can aim, and texture starts to count, which is where the TYRY.HU tools and the RaZbaby bristles earn their place. Molars arrive from around a year, at the back of the mouth, and only a long-handled teether like the Innobaby reaches them; a ring simply cannot. Buying one from each stage over the first year costs less than a single tub of formula.

Cleaning, freezing and safety

Cold numbs gums, so a teether that can be chilled is worth having; every silicone pick here is freezer safe, though makers advise the fridge or a short freeze rather than a rock-hard block that can bruise. Clean silicone with hot soapy water, the dishwasher where the maker allows it, or a steam steriliser; boil before first use. Bristled designs like the RaZbaby and Nuby banana need a scrub because milk residue hides between the bristles. Fabric teethers go through the washing machine and should be dried fully so they do not sour. Inspect any teether weekly and discard it at the first tear, since a cracked piece of silicone is a choking hazard. Every maker here says the same thing we will: supervise, always, and never tie a teether to a cord around the neck.

When do babies start needing a teether?

Most babies begin drooling and chewing between three and four months, though the first tooth usually appears closer to six. A fabric or mitt teether suits the early stage; silicone shapes with handles suit babies who can grasp.

Is it safe to freeze a silicone teether?

Yes, every silicone pick here is rated freezer safe. Makers suggest chilling in the fridge or freezing briefly rather than leaving it until rock hard, since a frozen-solid teether can bruise gums.

Which teether is best for molars?

The Innobaby EZ Grip set, whose long handle lets a baby push the textured head to the back gums, and the TYRY.HU tool teethers, which have the deepest textures. Rings and squares rarely reach that far back.

How do I clean a teether?

Hot soapy water for all of them; the dishwasher for those rated for it (Loulou Lollipop top rack, TYRY.HU); boiling water or a steam steriliser for the silicone picks before first use. Fabric teethers like Baby Paper and the Munch Mitt are machine washable.

Are teething necklaces a good idea?

No. Amber and bead necklaces are a strangulation and choking risk and are excluded from this guide. A handheld teether, a mitt or a cold washcloth does the same job safely.
