I had been using the M65 just on my desk's surface and over time I've worn a patch in the desk where the color of the desk (black) has worn to the natural color of the wood. Very happy with this mouse pad. It is a very no-frills item, but after trying all the gimmicks, I find that there is something to be said for getting back to basics on an item like this.
