Best plunge router you can buy right now
I already have a cordless trim router (also Dewalt) and a fixed 2 1/2 hp Bosch corded router in my router table. While the Bosch is an excellent product, I hate having to remove it from the table when I need a full-sized router, plus the cord gets in my way. When Dewalt released this, I resisted for several months, but then had a project that needed a larger router so I pulled the trigger. Fantastic tool
I'm mostly a metal worker and fabrication guy but I find myself getting into furniture and woodworking this I just got a great tool with all the features you could want. This allows me to have speed control, great adjustment of depth, can lock at any interval, and the brushless motor offers great battery life and power. The motor is brushless and offers a smooth start with power to spare. Definitely worth the extra money if you wanna skip the entry level limited options but still have all ease and control.

All around an amazing upgrade over previous generation, the built in grip power switch and central wood chip vacuum make this a breeze to use. Love this router using 1/2" bits.
I purchased this router because I wanted a battery-powered router that could be used with both a 1/2" and a 1/4" shank. I generally use the 1/2" shank on this router. My main use for it is for jointing long boards (photos attached). I use a 7/8" diameter compression bit and let the bottom bearing track a smooth board with a factory edge. It produced a perfectly smooth edge as shown. I hooked up the dust port to my vacuum, and it sucks up a lot of the dust.
