Got it to replace the router in my router table it works fantastic.

I bought a slab-flattening jig and went to install one of my two routers. Neither lined up with the holes in the mounting plate. I know I'm a little eccentric, but I like to have multiple tools for specific jobs, so I wasn't happy about taking my router off of my router table to use with the flattening jig. I was also not happy about using my smaller router I use for making edges on smaller projects. So, I didn't adapt the mounting plate to install either of those routers. I bought a new one. The tool itself is great, but the product description stated that a 1/4-inch collet was included. In reality, only the 1/2-inch collet came in the box

This is my 4th Dewalt router from this series. All of them work beyond my needs and I have no complaints. Why so many? I have one base attached to a table top router. I have a fixed base attached to a custom made router sled that I use to make tapered legs for my modern pet furniture. I have a plunge router base that I only use for certain aspects of my pet furniture and I have a fixed base that is available for other projects. All in all, I have 3 motors and 4 bases. If you are not familiar with this interchangeable series from DeWalt, you should seriously consider it. I am not a serious wood

I am a home woodworker who used to work in a custom woodshop. Our favored brand was Delta (later Porter Cable) and my home router was one of these smaller PC models. Worked well for many years and small enough to fit into one hand. That model recently quit working and is no longer made. Other more recent PC tools have been poorly made and seem designed for the home market and not nearly as robust as before. Hence, this DeWalt router was the closest model I could find.
