I read about the author’s upcoming book, went looking for her backlist, found this one and just the title made me want to read it, but now I don’t know how to describe it.I have to start by saying, that despite what anyone thinks, the story is well written, smart and even humorous in the way Hannah is somehow disconnected from reality. It’s also disturbing that someone, anyone, is so lost that ends up defining their self-worth by others perception of them or that they end up finding solace obsessing about a potential murderer.Still, I liked this story. This was good. I feel like it did drag on in some spots and then some spots were really good. I do like how it all ended not exactly what I was expecting.

I flew through this book in one day! I thought the premise was intriguing and it surely didn’t disappoint. In the beginning the book was amusing and quirky.Hannah was a groupie for serial killers with a self destructive streak a mile wide. She starts writing to William who supposedly killed several women- and this titillated her- a Charles Manson type group titillated by death. The middle was tedious and boring. I guessed the murderer:no spoiler if it’s William or someone else. I guessed almost everything in this insipid tome which is not a high. No twists and turns - just listening to Hannah’s neuroses. Why this was published is beyond me and I cannot recommend stupidity to the readers. Two thumbs

I love true crime and things that are more out of the ordinary than your typical love story. I struggled to read this book, but I got so far into that I continued to push myself to finish it. I have never disliked a main character so much, I understand the self-loathing. Yet, it became unbearable because almost every other sentence out of Hannah’s mouth or thoughts had to do with how her life was just horrible, her best friend was too busy, her parents expected too much of her, guys were all horrible, etc. Literally it was too much but again I was too far into this book to not finish it. Ever wonder what it would be like to find yourself falling for a serial killer. All here within these pages and what a read it is! No spoilers but the ending is over the top. Don't judge until you've walked in Hannah's shoes as she tries sadly to find her place within society and takes a few shortcuts along the way whether they be bad or good.

I listened to the audiobook and had to take it at 1.7 speed because it was a little slow to start, however, couldn't put it down at the end. Good character development, Entertaining. Plotline, nice twist at the end.
