A battery and charger would increase size, weight, cost, and complexity that would only detract from its performance. First, the sound is incredible, very clear especially the balance between the mid, high, and low sounds. Every note sounds clear and distinctive with others sounds that are not heard by regular speakers. The Bluetooth to connect to my iPad was easy with no problems.I read in other reviews where the HDMI had trouble connecting to their TVs. The bad news is I had the same issue but was able to do a work around that others might also be able to use. My TV which is new and high level technology has Bluetooth connection ability. I’ve had a handful of assorted modest Bluetooth speakers, and they are mostly ‘meh’, they produce sound, some of it OK, mostly unsatisfying in fullness and soundstage and low frequency.The Woburn III is very satisfying and very capable. Very disappointed. I used it. This five hundred and 25 dollars speaker shorted out within one month. Apparently Amazon will not stand behind this because it was over 30 days. Very disappointed in Amazon also. I need help Amazon. You sold me a defective Marshall Woburn 3 speaker. It is still under manufacturing warranty. So I sent this speaker to the company.
