I had an oval can from better homes and gardens. The dust and nastiness that constantly accumulated around the rim of the can, the inner liner and the inside part of the lid, was incredibly frustrating and so unsightly. I've only had this a week, but it is, hands down, the nicest trash can I've ever owned! The charcoal black color is nicely subdued, the inner bin comes in and out easy and 13 gal bags easy to fit on it, and the dampening on the lid mechanism really smooth.

I was debating buying this trashcan because of how expensive it seemed. However, if you look around at other trash cans, many of them are similarly priced and don't look as nice. I like that it is the size of standard trash bags (it's annoying when trash cans are smaller than standard kitchen trash bags). The color is great and it doesn't seem to show fingerprints. It does show dust, but that's easy to take care of. The can itself is very nicely made, the quiet close lid is good.From the first unboxing however, the catch to keep the lid open didn't work. It simply gets pushed aside and the lid gradually closes. It's not broken, it's a flawed design, so don't count on this feature. Otherwise, good piece of kit.

perfect in every way. the stay open feature is meh, but I don't use it and even if it was perfect i wouldn't use it. it is so easy to just lift the plastic bin inside the metal one out... I just do that if I need a wide open receptacle for something. Also worth noting - our foot-level broke a bit after a year, still functional but not as good. I have kids so maybe it gets abused i don't know. Anyway it has a 5 year warranty and after submitting a claim easily they had a replacement sent to my by the next morning. very impressive. highly recommended.

We had a circular one that required a ton of wasted space all around it to operate. This one can be put all the way against a wall, corner or counter and give you a TON more trash capacity but also fully use all the space the other trash cans waste. This can takes the same exact size trash bags as the old circular one, but holds four times the trash! This eliminated the non-stop emptying of the trash can with bags that were not completely full. The design function works well overall, but I don’t know the number of cycles the lift mechanism was engineered for. I know it’s a known name but my suggestion is don’t use a heavy foot when possible. Speaking of lift, when the (lid/door) goes upward and if you do use a heavy foot, most counters have a lip that this door will hit when it goes up which will dent it with continuous use. (A soft insulation foam adhesive strip attached to the counter lip bottom edge may help here if you have kids if it concerns you) -> If your layout permits this to be next to a wall and not a counter, this should
