SINGER® Ruffler Attachment Foot for Pleats & Gathers, Low-Shank Machines

Very happy with this attachment, it works as it should, and attached easily. If you are new to sewing, it has limited instructions, but pretty straightforward operation. Note- this is not the same as a gathering foot, it makes measured "pleats". The stitching looks professional and well made.

I purchased this foot for my Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 sewing machine. The foot was easy to install, but I did have some difficulty getting it to work (to catch the fabric to make the pleat). I took a break from it and watched a video on YouTube on how to use and I quickly got it to work. The trick that got it working was to move all the moving parts a bit to get them to flex and move easily. Really good quality.

Okay so I bought a generic version of this for my old machine and it broke needle after needle after needle. The machine was limping along anyways so I am not sure if it was the machine or the foot. So, I get my new machine and was terrified to get a new ruffler foot. I needed it, so I decided to get the name brand. This works in theory but every now and then it would wiggle while sewing and the needle hit the metal on the ruffler which caused several parts of my machine to break on the inside causing me to have to buy a whole new sewing machine. Granted, my sewing machine was from the 90’s so just use with general care and if the needle seems to close to the metal ruffler needle hole, don’t risk it.

This special foot has limited use, and not everyone will think they need it. But I find it invaluable for so many applications. It fit my Pfaff machine, but I also have a Singer Featherweight which will also accommodate it. Here I made dozens of yards of ruffled underskirt for a costume.Only downfall is, there are zero instructions included on how to use this thing. I already knew, because this isn't the first one I've owned. If in doubt, there are videos on YouTube. Easy to attach to my Brother and Singer. Sturdy, but Pricey! The gathering foot may be a better way to go for me. I had a hard time getting it to feed the double cotton fabric when I had it placed in the feed guide hook on the foot. I tried on both my machines without any luck. The bottom layer kept slipping out of line. After a lot of cussing I tried again. This time I laid the fabric above the feed guide hook and I had better results. I’m sure this product does work. Maybe it’s just user error on my part and I just need to get used to it. I was going to return it, but I did get results after
