My husband and I recently purchased a new flat panel television, which was not compatible with our old dvd player. We wanted a basic model DVD player that could be connected through a HDMI cable to our new television. Although we only wanted a basic model, I still wanted to purchase a brand that I knew was backed by quality. This sony DVD player perfectly fits our needs. It steps you through the setup. I won't use this that much but just need a good DVD once in awhile, so I opted for a used in good condition one, and it's perfect so far. There are just some movies that are hard to find anywhere. Nelson Eddie (and Jeanette), some of the actually good Hallmark movies, some old noir movies that I love, etc. so, perfect!

I only gave it a 4 star because it doesn’t support switching on the TV automatically, when I turn on the DVD player, my old one did. . The player itself is great. Not expensive. Plays my “Lawman “ dvds perfectly.

This Sony DVD player fits our needs very well. The setup was a breeze. I unpacked the DVD, read the instructions, installed the HD cable, plugged the DVD into a 120V power source, inserted the batteries into the DVD’s remote, powered the DVD on (I did not have to make any adjustments), inserted a CD and that was it. Less than 5 minutes. The picture quality is excellent.Our current DVD is a Sony as well. It was 19 years old and still worked but with today’s HD quality an upgrade was needed too current technology. Very pleased with our purchase.
