I used this to connect my super Nintendo to my TV in the living room. Works fine. I don't think I needed anything else for it.

The device works great. I connected a new cable box to a very old plasma monitor. I made the mistake of buying the s-video-to-hdmi device, when I SHOULD have purchased the hdmi-to-s-video device. The device does not work in both directions. Besides my mistake, I am very satisfied with this product.

Nice and small and easy to use. Not many options but gets the job done when You are trying to convert VHS to digital.

Right off the bat, I see that the S Video is a tiny unshielded cable. Since this is so cheap, its not worth my time returning it. So I took it apart. Chroma and Luma are merged prior to sending the signal the connectors. You will not get S video, you will get a poor composite signal.

I bought this to hook up to an old Sony Wega in the bedroom that has just sat there collecting dust since the format changed. It works great with a Fire Stick.

I'm writing this review simply to help temper expectations when buying a cheaper converter like this. This device is USB powered and works right out of the box exactly as you'd expect, so if all you're looking for is an easy solution, this is about as easy as it gets! It works as described. I was able to connect my Odin 2 (emulation handheld) to the device, which allowed me to play my retro games on my 32” Sony CRT TV. That said- a lot of devices will not output at your CRT’s resolution, and will look funky. I had to adjust the scaling in retroarch so my games would fit the screen perfectly, which it did after a little testing. There is zero lag, and the sound works just fine.
