Image quality is crisp and great for the price. It took quite a bit of tweaking in my computer’s settings to get to work but not anything too bad. It does work on 480i CRTs, which was something I was unsure of. Overall great quality and works well.

The HDMI input on our TV died years ago and we have gone through many of these converter boxes. The last few have lasted less than a year and glitched quite a bit so we decided to try this higher-priced unit, hoping it was better build quality. We are impressed. False advertising (does NOT output 480i)I purchased this converter specifically because the product listing clearly states:“Support 480i/576i Component Output.”This is not true.After receiving the unit, the included manual states the device only outputs 480p, not 480i. The build quality is solid, with the casing being made out of entirely aluminum. I purchased it so that I can adapt modern devices such as a computer or a Switch to my Toshiba CRT television (32AF45), and it worked great. It was pretty much plug-and-play into my CRT, and the most setup I had to do with the device was changing the resolution with the button on the front. In terms of a power supply, it comes with a 5 volt 1 amp power supply with a "barrel jack" plug, and the brick goes straight into an outlet. I could imagine that you could substitute that with a USB power cord instead, though.

PC into converter into CRT. Resolution set to around 720. Doesn't fill the screen unless I choose 59hz. Thing is like a box filled with spells, it takes magic to make it work perfectly. I must have spent 8 hours total in tweaking the resolution on my pc trying to get this to display 4:3 content correctly and fill the screen. I dont know what aspect ration this box is looking for and what it does with that afterwards. Ive tried sending it 4:3, 16:9, 16:10. All with very little conclusions on what is going on.

My cable provider, recently, upgraded me to new equipment: wireless boxes that no longer have the RF connection to the wall. The only way to connect to your TV is via HDMI. In one of my rooms, I have an older CRT flatscreen TV with no HDMI. However, it does have Component A/V inputs. I got this to convert from HDMI. Pretty much plug and play. After fiddling with the scale and zoom to find the appropriate output, I have no complaints. The picture is crystal clear and the colors are perfect. The build quality seems solid. Hope it lasts.

Had previously tried a different brand with a much lower price with bad results. This item worked perfectly right out of the box. It was easy to set up, stays cool, video and sound are both great. A bit pricey but worth it. You get what you pay for.
