This is a magnificent display of beautiful music, first-rate lyrics, show biz super stars, and lavish entertainment. I bought it specifically because it was the last of Perry Como's four Hollywood movies and I'd heard that he sang more in this one than in any of the others. True, only three of his numbers made the final cut in the 2-hour movie, but he sings two more in the outtakes (and there are four separate takes for one of them!), plus a third number in the audio-only outtakes. Love it, love it, love it. Whilst the film doesn't tell the Rodgers and Hart (especially) story the way it really was I find this film a real treat.I guess it's the wonderful Rodgers and Hart songs that get me in every time I play this piece. There is the cavalcade of MGM Stars of the era, each doing their bit with the wonderfully witty music/lyrics. Rodgers and Hart were a sophisticated pairing. Mickey Rooney playing the part of Lorenz Hart is a little melodramatic, and overplayed to the hilt. One of my favorite musicals because it showcases the songs of Rogers and Hart; two of the greatest American songwriters ever. The story may not be totally accurate and the acting is somewhat cheesy, but if you appreciate the music of Rogers and Hart, you'll play this over and over.

It worked the first time out of the box!

entertaining bio picture on Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart with lots of guest stars from the M-G-M roster of stars including June Allyson, Perry Como. Ann Sothern, Judy Garland, Lena Horne, Gene Kelly and Vera Ellen, Mickey Rooney plays Lorenz Hart giving a very sensitive performance dealing with Harts troubled personal life lots of production numbers all filmed in Technicolor glory a treat for the eyes and ears.

OK...so the story didn't follow Lorenz Hart's life path exactly (it was probably even more forlorn that depicted in this DVD), but the music and the performers were the best of the day. Amazon has brought the public another memory of fun and music. If you want to spend an evening with some of the best of the "old music" this DVD is for you. Every song and dance is a classic!

Streaming died after 1hour and 4 minutes. "Chatted" with someone, maybe an AI robot but now, after 30 minutes, still no movie. To be fair, I bought it more than a year ago and have never had this problem with this movie. Amazon quality is noticeably worse these days.
