Best Wall-Mount Range Hoods in 2026: 30-Inch and 36-Inch Chimney Hoods Ranked by Owners

Seven wall-mount chimney range hoods ranked by airflow, noise, controls and owner reviews: ONEEON 900 CFM, Tieasy 450 CFM, HisoHu 780 CFM, IKTCH 900 CFM, Hauslane, VIKIO HOME 580 CFM, ZLINE 36-inch.

Our top pickTieasy Range Hood, Range Hoods 30 inch S…8.8Our score

A wall-mount range hood is the chimney-style hood that hangs over a cooktop with nothing above it: no cabinet, just a canopy, a stack to hide the duct and, ideally, enough airflow to clear a searing pan before the smoke alarm notices. The good ones move 600 to 900 cubic feet of air a minute at a noise level you can talk over, have stainless baffle filters that go in the dishwasher, and convert to ductless recirculation with a charcoal kit if you cannot run a duct outside. We ranked the wall-mount hoods in our appliances catalog by rated airflow, noise on low and high, ducted or convertible operation, filter type, controls and lighting, and what hundreds to thousands of owners report after installing them.

We have not installed every one of these ourselves; the verdicts rest on the spec sheets and on the owner review history. Prices are not printed because they change daily; every button opens the live Amazon page. If your cooktop sits under a cabinet, our under-cabinet range hoods guide covers that layout, and if the smoke comes from an indoor grill, our indoor electric grills guide is the other half of the problem.

How we picked

  • Wall-mount only. Every pick is a chimney-style canopy that mounts to the wall; under-cabinet, insert and island hoods were left out.
  • Airflow stated by the maker. We quote the rated CFM and note where a lower-CFM hood is the right choice for a kitchen without make-up air.
  • Noise you can live with. We favored hoods that publish a low-speed figure under 45 dB and a high-speed figure under 65 dB.
  • Filters and conversion. Dishwasher-safe stainless baffle or mesh filters on every pick, and we note which ones convert to ductless with a charcoal kit.
  • Owner feedback that is consistently positive, with the top picks drawing hundreds to over a thousand owner reviews.

The picks

ONEEON 30 Inch Range Hood - 900 CFM Stainless Steel Wall Mount Kitchen Exhaust
Width30 inchesAirflowUp to 900 CFM with a quiet modeFiltersDishwasher-safe stainless steel filtersLighting2 energy-efficient LED lightsDesignSlim 1.57-inch canopy to maximize headroomWarranty1-year parts guarantee

The ONEEON 30-inch is the wall-mount hood most owners end up with, and the thousands of owner reviews behind its strong owner feedback are the main reason it leads this page. It moves up to 900 CFM, enough to clear a wok or a cast-iron sear, and drops to a quiet mode for simmering. The canopy is only 1.57 inches thick, which keeps the view and headroom over the cooktop, two LED lights cover the burners, and the stainless steel filters go in the dishwasher and stay bright where aluminum mesh yellows. Owners praise the suction and the install guide and grumble about the noise at full speed, which is the price of 900 CFM anywhere. The parts guarantee is a year, shorter than the Tieasy and Hauslane coverage, and this model is built for a ducted install first.

Pros
  • 900 CFM for the price of most 450 CFM hoods
  • Thousands of owner reviews with strong owner feedback, the biggest base here
  • Slim canopy keeps headroom over the cooktop
  • Stainless filters that do not discolor like aluminum mesh
Cons
  • One-year parts coverage is shorter than Tieasy and Hauslane
  • Loud on the top speed, as any 900 CFM hood is
  • Ductless conversion is not the focus of this model

Tieasy Range Hood, Range Hoods 30 inch Stainless Steel, 450 CFM Kitchen Hood with LED Light Baffle Filters, 3 Speed Exhaust Fan Vent Hood
Width30 inches (29.3 x 18.3 x 36.3 inches installed)Airflow450 CFM, 3 speeds, under 55 dB on highFiltersStainless steel baffle filters, dishwasher safeChimneyAdjustable 15.75 to 29.5 inches for 7.5 to 8.5 ft ceilingsConversionDucted; optional carbon filter kit for ductlessWarranty5-year limited parts

The Tieasy 30-inch is the chimney hood to buy when the kitchen does light to medium cooking and the budget matters. Its 450 CFM fan has three push-button speeds and stays under 55 dB at the top one, which makes it the quietest full-speed figure on this page, and it ships with stainless baffle filters, a backdraft damper, duct pipe and the flue covers, so there is nothing else to buy for a ducted install. The adjustable chimney spans 7.5 to 8.5 foot ceilings and Tieasy backs the parts for five years. Thousands of owner reviews give it strong owner feedback, with the easy install and the look for the money praised most. It will not keep up with a wok or a heavy sear, the controls are plain buttons, and the body is 430 rather than 304 stainless, but for most apartments and starter kitchens it is all the hood you need.

Pros
  • The lowest price on the page with a 5-year parts warranty
  • Under 55 dB on high, the quietest full-speed figure here
  • Baffle filters and a backdraft damper in the box
  • Thousands of owner reviews with strong owner feedback
Cons
  • 450 CFM is for everyday cooking, not heavy searing
  • Push buttons only, no remote or gesture control
  • 430-grade steel rather than 304

HisoHu Wall Mount Range Hood 30 Inch, Ductless/Ducted Convertible, 780 CFM Stainless Kitchen Hood, with Upgraged Stainless Steel Mesh Filters, Gesture & Touch Control
Width30 inchesAirflow780 CFM, 4 speeds, 28 to 54 dBControlsGesture, touch panel and remoteFiltersStainless steel mesh, dishwasher safeLightingTwin 4000K LEDs with adjustable brightnessConversionDucted or ductless; 2-year motor warranty

The HisoHu is the wall-mount hood for a kitchen that cannot run a duct outside, or that wants the quietest motor here. Its 780 CFM fan runs from 28 dB on low to 54 dB on high across four speeds, the lowest figures on this page, and it works ducted or recirculating with a charcoal kit. You change speed by waving a hand in front of the sensor, tapping the touch panel or using the remote, which is genuinely useful with raw-chicken hands, and twin 4000K LEDs dim from cooking-bright to dinner-soft. The filters are reinforced stainless mesh rather than baffles, which clean in the dishwasher but trap a little less grease, and the gesture sensor occasionally fires when you reach past it. Hundreds of owner reviews give it strong owner feedback, and HisoHu covers the motor for two years.

Pros
  • Quietest range on the page: 28 dB low to 54 dB high
  • Wave a hand to change speed with greasy fingers
  • Converts to ductless for kitchens without an exterior duct
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with strong owner feedback
Cons
  • Mesh filters rather than baffles
  • Gesture sensor can trigger when you reach for a shelf
  • Charcoal filters for ductless mode cost extra

IKTCH 30 Inch Wall Mount Range Hood, 900 CFM Kitchen Chimney Vent, Ducted/Ductless Convertible, Stainless Steel with Gesture Control, Touch Control Panel & 2 Pcs Adjustable Lights for Smart Life
Width30 inchesAirflowUp to 900 CFM, 4 speeds, about 40 to 65 dBControlsGesture sensing, touch panel and remoteFiltersTwo stainless steel filters, dishwasher safeLighting2 x 3W LED bulbs with adjustable brightnessConversionDucted or ductless convertible

The IKTCH 30-inch is what you buy when you want the ONEEON’s 900 CFM but also a remote, gesture control and the option to recirculate. Four speeds run from about 40 dB on low to 65 dB flat out, two 3W LEDs dim to taste, and the two stainless filters pop out for the dishwasher. The hands-free sensor and the remote mean you never touch the panel mid-stir-fry, and the convertible design takes a charcoal kit for apartments without an exterior duct. Hundreds of owner reviews give it strong owner feedback, with the pull and the finish praised and the top-speed noise the main complaint; it is the loudest figure here, though no louder than any other 900 CFM hood. It costs more than the ONEEON for the same airflow, so the controls and the ductless option are what you are paying for.

Pros
  • 900 CFM plus gesture, touch and remote control
  • Convertible to ductless, unlike the ONEEON
  • Dimmable LEDs and dishwasher-safe stainless filters
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with strong owner feedback
Cons
  • 65 dB on high is the loud end of the page
  • Costs more than the ONEEON for similar airflow
  • Charcoal filters not included

Hauslane Wall Mount Range Hood 30 Inch Convertible 450-860 CFM 6 Speed
Width30 inchesAirflow450 to 860 CFM across 6 speeds; Power Control caps output at 400 CFM if no make-up airControlsDigital screen with 6 speeds and 1 to 15 minute delay shut-offFiltersStainless steel baffle filtersLighting3000K warm LEDs, swappableConversionDucted or ductless convertible

The Hauslane is the wall-mount hood for someone remodeling rather than replacing. Six speeds span 450 to 860 CFM, a Power Control setting caps the hood at 400 CFM so a tightly sealed house does not need a make-up air system, and a 1 to 15 minute delay shut-off keeps the fan running after the pan comes off to clear what is left. Baffle filters catch grease, the duct path is designed to cut airflow noise, and the 3000K warm LEDs can be swapped to match the rest of the kitchen. Hundreds of owner reviews give it solid owner feedback, a notch below the ONEEON and Tieasy, with the price and the busy digital panel the usual reservations. If you want a hood that behaves like a built-in appliance rather than a fan in a box, it is the one here.

Pros
  • Six speeds and a delay shut-off that clears odors after you finish
  • Power Control mode avoids a make-up air system in tight homes
  • Baffle filters and a low-noise duct design
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with solid owner feedback
Cons
  • Priciest 30-inch hood on the page
  • Owner feedback is a step below the ONEEON and Tieasy
  • Digital panel has a learning curve

VIKIO HOME 30 Inch Wall Mount Range Hood 580CFM Low Noise Touch Control
Width30 inchesAirflow580 CFM dual-intake, 40 dBA low to under 65 dBA highControlsTouch panel with 1 to 9 minute delay shut-offFiltersTwo stainless steel baffle filters, dishwasher safeLightingIntegrated LED cooktop lightsConversionDuctless-ready with a filter kit; brushed fingerprint-resistant steel

The VIKIO HOME 580 CFM is the middle path: more pull than the Tieasy, quieter and cheaper than the 900 CFM hoods. Its dual-intake canopy draws air from both edges, which VIKIO says moves 20 percent more air than a single intake at the same rating, and the noise-dampened motor runs at 40 dBA on low and stays under 65 dBA on high. A 1 to 9 minute delay shut-off purges the room after cooking, the two baffle filters go in the dishwasher, and the brushed finish resists fingerprints. It is ductless-ready with a filter kit. Hundreds of owner reviews give it strong owner feedback, and it is the hood to pick for an open-plan kitchen where the fan should not drown the television. It has fewer reviews than the ONEEON and no remote, but it is the quiet all-rounder here.

Pros
  • Dual-intake design pulls from both sides of the canopy
  • 40 dBA on low, quiet enough for an open-plan living room
  • Delay shut-off and fingerprint-resistant finish
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with strong owner feedback
Cons
  • 580 CFM sits between the budget and the 900 CFM picks
  • Touch panel only, no remote
  • Newer model with fewer reviews than the ONEEON

ZLINE 36 in. Convertible Vent Outdoor Approved Wall Mount Range Hood in Stainless Steel (KB-304-36)
Width36 inchesAirflow400 CFM, 4 speeds (120, 240, 320, 400 CFM)Build304-grade stainless steel, outdoor approvedControlsPush buttons for fan and lightsFiltersDishwasher-safe stainless steel baffle filtersConversionDucted or ductless with CF1 charcoal filters (sold separately)

The ZLINE KB-304-36 is here for two jobs the others cannot do: cover a 36-inch cooktop and survive outside. It is built from 304-grade stainless, the corrosion-resistant alloy that makes it approved for a covered outdoor kitchen, with push-button control of four speeds from 120 to 400 CFM, baffle filters and a convertible design that takes ZLINE CF1 charcoal filters for recirculation. The airflow is modest for the width, so it suits a cooktop that does not see daily searing, and it is the most expensive hood on the page because of the steel rather than the motor. Hundreds of owner reviews give it strong owner feedback, with the finish and the fit singled out. For an outdoor grill station or a wide range in a traditional kitchen it is the pick; for a 30-inch indoor cooktop, the hoods above move more air for less.

Pros
  • 304 stainless that is approved for covered outdoor kitchens
  • 36-inch width for a wide cooktop or a 30-inch range with margin
  • Four speeds and baffle filters
  • Hundreds of owner reviews with strong owner feedback
Cons
  • 400 CFM is modest for the size; it is about the build, not the pull
  • Most expensive hood on the page
  • Charcoal filters for ductless mode are extra

How much CFM do you need?

The usual rule is 100 CFM per linear foot of cooktop for a wall-mount hood, so a 30-inch range wants at least 250 CFM and a 36-inch one 300. That is a floor, not a target: a gas range, a wok or regular searing needs 600 to 900 CFM to catch the plume before it spreads, which is why the ONEEON, IKTCH and Hauslane exist. There is a catch above 400 CFM in a tightly built house. Pulling that much air out can backdraft a furnace or water heater, and many building codes require a make-up air system for hoods over 400 CFM, which is what the Hauslane’s Power Control cap and the Tieasy and ZLINE ratings sidestep. If you are not sure, ask the inspector before you buy the biggest fan.

Ducted, ductless and convertible

A ducted hood vents outside through a 6-inch duct and is always the better performer; the Tieasy ships with the pipe and damper for exactly that. Ductless mode pulls air through a charcoal filter and pushes it back into the room, which removes grease and some odor but no heat or moisture. Every convertible pick here (HisoHu, IKTCH, Hauslane, VIKIO HOME, ZLINE) does both, but the charcoal filters are an extra purchase and need replacing every few months. If a duct to the outside is possible, run it; if not, choose the convertible hood with the highest CFM you can live with, since recirculating loses some of the rated pull.

Mounting height, chimney and noise

Mount the bottom of the canopy 24 to 30 inches above an electric cooktop and 27 to 30 above gas. The adjustable chimney covers the duct up to the ceiling; the Tieasy spans 7.5 to 8.5 foot ceilings and most 30-inch hoods here cover up to 9 feet, with extension kits for taller rooms. Noise rises with speed, so a hood with a usable low setting matters more than its peak figure. The HisoHu at 28 dB and the VIKIO HOME at 40 dBA on low are the ones you can forget are running; the 900 CFM hoods are fine on low and loud on high, as every big fan is. Delay shut-off, on the Hauslane and VIKIO HOME, lets you leave the kitchen while the hood finishes the job.

What is the difference between a wall-mount and an under-cabinet range hood?

A wall-mount hood is a chimney-style canopy fixed to the wall with nothing above it, so it needs open wall space over the cooktop. An under-cabinet hood bolts to the bottom of a cabinet. Wall-mount hoods are usually taller, more decorative and offer more airflow.

Can a wall-mount range hood be ductless?

Yes, if it is convertible. The HisoHu, IKTCH, Hauslane, VIKIO HOME and ZLINE here can recirculate through charcoal filters sold separately. Ductless mode removes grease and some odor but not heat or steam, so vent outside whenever you can.

Is 900 CFM too much for a home kitchen?

Not for a gas range or frequent searing, but hoods above 400 CFM may require make-up air under local code. The Hauslane can be capped at 400 CFM, and the Tieasy and ZLINE are rated below the threshold, if that is a concern.

How high should a wall-mount range hood be?

Twenty-four to thirty inches above an electric cooktop and twenty-seven to thirty above a gas one, measured to the bottom of the canopy. Higher reduces capture; lower risks heat damage and head bumps.

Are baffle filters better than mesh?

Baffle filters, on the Tieasy, Hauslane, VIKIO HOME and ZLINE, trap grease by changing the air direction and clean up well in a dishwasher. Mesh filters, on the HisoHu, work fine for lighter cooking but clog faster and need more frequent washing.
