First, the quality of materials used is surprisingly good. This item is actually quite heavy for its size; likely due to the glass used as the scale's top surface and stainless steel weighing platforms.- The power, tare 1 & 2, & unit "buttons" aren't actually buttons, per se. They're proximity sensors underneath the scale's glass surface. No cheap mechanical or clicky-buttons using a plastic membrane to crack and fail over time, allowing liquid and debris to ingress the scale itself. Can't stress enough how important this is to the life of the product.- This unit does not require calibration.

I have gone thru 3 different scales in the past few years. This one may be the keeper. Let's hope. Same price as the other ones which have broken down in various ways after about a year of constant use. Likes: #1 is the big surface area of the scale itself, coupled with the readout being off to the side. I can put large items on it and still see the LCD readout. For someone who weighs and tracts everything, it’s incredibly reliable and, i love all of the units i can track. i can also see how this helps people who don’t track but can use it is useful for baking or cooking in general.
