This seam guide is an excellent addition to my sewing supplies and tools. I've been sewing for the past 60 years and I still find it a bit challenging to sew 1/4" seams when I sew quilt tops. Ok this thing is pretty helpful.I'm new to sewing with a machine, I've just used it for a few simple projects. My seams have always looked very amateur. I've recently started using a strip of masking tape, which helps, but this worked much better!The guide has a magnet, a strong one, built into it, so you can secure it to the needle plate. It also comes with a sticker magnet, I assume to use on a machine that doesn't have a metal plate. I don't know what possessed me to buy, yet another, seam guide. I feel like I have one in every configuration known to man! This is the first one that I'll actually use. It's so straight forward. You've got a decently long straight edge with a "finger" to hold the fabric down . . . and there isn't a space underneath the guide that the fabric can slip beneath. I have other guides that because of the protuding magnet, are raised off the sewing bed just enough for the fabric to get under. This one sits completely flat against the bed.
