I bought this to replace an Asus Strix Z890-E which became unstable after a bios update in March of 2026 after 5 months of ownership. Asus service is even worse than I'd read it is, and I'd read bad things. Sometimes we learn the hard way...Anyhow, the MSI Z890 Carbon wifi is running very well. In fact, it even booted up no problem, and ran stable, even before I reinstalled windows. The MSI Z890 Carbon Wifi motherboard is pretty good except for audio outputs.I had to run a stereo mini-plug to the front audio connector and another one to the rear audio connecter to get 4 channel surround sound! Have a Sound Blaster Audigy(79.99) coming soon so I can plug everything in the back!! Another thing I did not like was the packaging!! It was not put in a box-it was shipped with a label on the box it comes in!! I love the dragon logo and just how great this Motherboard is at keeping my M.2's cool. Don't need. M.2's with a heat sink since this comes with enough cooling for 5!Very sturdy. It's heavy! I was incredibly excited to build my new PC around the MSI MPG Z890 Carbon, pairing it with one of the new Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors. On paper, this motherboard has the perfect feature set for a high-end gaming rig. In reality, this has been one of the worst product experiences I have ever had.The first motherboard I ordered arrived broken. After carefully unboxing it, I noticed a significant crack on the PCB near the PCIe slot. It was completely unusable. Almost perfect. MSI makes adding M.2 drives and removing the GPU very easy. However changing the CMOS battery, is very hard to do. Have to remove 5 screws, then remove the heat sync. Then you can access the battery.Was having bios problems, battery was close to 3v, so I replaced it, but I made the wire longer and put the battery in an accessible place (seen in photo). So I don't need to spend an hour tearing the computer apart and reassemble it. But it turned out the bios just needed to be updated, I think the bios still sort of reset when I moved the PC back to it's spot, but was working fine

The design is quite problematicit nearly damaged the motherboard. Some of the NVMe SSD covers fell apart and weren't secured properly they were only attached by a button that released when pressed. When I opened the box, the cover was detached and had bent the motherboard on the lower left side. Fortunately, it still works, but there's visible damage to the backward motherboard.

Awesome motherboard.IMPORTANT: UPDATE YOUR BIOS as soon as you receive it.Motherboards fry intel chips if not updated to the latest microcode.Make sure to set it up properly on the BIOS afterwards to avoid stupid overclocking and over volting which generates a lot of heat.Make sure you have a high end PSU, at least an 850W full modular 80 Plus Gold.Check out the amount of connectors needed for this motherboard.
