Utopia Kitchen Countertop Compost Bin 1.3 Gallon, Stainless Steel, Silver

This is by far one of the best systems for kitchen scraps. It looks classy and is easy to use. I line mine with a compostable bag so it stays very clean on the inside. It has two filters which keep the odors inside. It is easy to clean, saves on space and I love the sturdy, good looking handle. There are many color options as well, I chose one that matches my kitchen appliances. Definitely recommend you have one to tidy up your kitchen. It is so worth it and I no longer have to scrub out those nasty plastic bowls that I use to put the compost in to transport it to the compost pile.

*Update:* Sorry, it's been slightly longer than six months since my original review but I wanted to come back to change my review from four stars to five because even after consistent daily use this bin is holding up great. No rust, no loosening of the handle, and best of all no leaking at the seams like I was afraid might happen. We've only changed the charcoal filter three times but never notice any odor from the can. We also noticed that the charcoal filter also effectively stops any maggots from growing...that was a gross but definitely illuminating discovery made while waiting for a new c

I love this little compost bucket! It is the perfect size for under the sink. The lid fits well, and the filters are terrific for keeping odors and fruit flies at bay. The filters do get gross after a week or so of use, but we did rinse them out at the sink several times before having to actually replace them. 2ND UPDATE: It has now been more than 6 months and I have had no issues with it. Yes, it has a couple spots where the liner bag leaked and gunk discolored the metal slightly, but it is inside so no problem. I had trouble with those little orangey-brown flies on one occasion because I have a bad habit of leaving the lid cocked to facilitate lifting it, but once I used clorox clean up to disinfect everything, including the filter, and made sure to close the lid completely all the time, that problem went away.UPDATE: Two days later the smell started to get through the filter, so about 8 days to d

As a gardener I always want to compost but recently moved to a home where composting outside was not going to be an option. Bought a kitchen counter composter (also five stars) to handle the job for me. This item was a HUGE help. I can add to it as I go through meals or meal prep and when it's full turn around and put it all into the composter for processing. Love that it looks good on the counter, easily accessible and there's no smell. Thank you for such a great product!

This is my second kitchen countertop bin. The first one had a plastic bucket inside of it and even with the charcoal filter inside the lid, the smell with the top closed wasn’t sealed nor did it keep the fruit flies away. In time the plastic lip around the top edge broke which made it impossible to have a seal when you put the lid on.My new compost bin is worth every penny spent. Very useful and easy to use in the kitchen. Use it almost daily when preparing dinner. Love that it is odorless and looks better than a plastic bucket on the counter.
