As a self-proclaimed tinkerer of microcontrollers, I've had my fair share of simple projects. However, as my skills have grown and I've ventured into more complex territory involving multiple voltages, it became evident that I needed a reliable power supply. Enter the Hyelec Variable 50V 6ADC Power Supply, my knight in shining armor, or should I say, my volt in shining current? Allow me to share my experience with this versatile power supply, all while keeping it light and humorous.Being a first-time bench power supply owner, I approached this purchase with a mix of excitement and trepidation.

I'm on day 2 of use. I got this for charging batteries and some home-use projects. I chose this power supply because it had simple push-buttons to turn on/off limiting and output and it has some memory slots for storing battery charging settings. The instructions are well translated and the unit works well and is very responsive when toggling the buttons. It is running very quiet, (no fan so far), it's quieter than my incandescent light bulbs! AC cord and power leads seem to be good, neither is heating up under load or giving me any concerns. This seems like a really good value if it survives.

I bought this to replace a power supply that was built into a batter spot welder that I have had for about 4 year's. I used it on so many projects that it finally stopped working so I needed a new more dedicated power supply. What I really like about this one is that it has a higher voltage range and more amps than the standard 3-30v most models in this price range produce. For anyone who is looking to test and charge a battery larger than 30v, this is a must have. I can confirm however that when you turn off the output, the unit still produces some millivolts. There are endless cheap power supplies on Amazon, but this is the only one I’ve found that actually works the right way. Most of the cheap switchers have a knob to set voltage and a knob to set current limit, but no markings to be able to see what they are set to. This means that flipping on the power supply will result in it outputting whatever the last voltage was set to. If you don’t remember, that might result in your device blowing up! Also, the current limit is set by shorting the leads, which means that they must be disconnected from the load to configure it.This power supply shows the

The power off issue mentioned by others is a real concern, but I have it on an easy to reach switchable power strip,so no real worry. For the price I was extremely pleased, and somewhat surprised, at how well it performs. Nice that it takes up almost no space on my already crowded workbench, and I've never noticed it getting noticeably hot under load. I bought it specifically to help me trouble shoot hybrid instrument clusters, but I keep finding new jobs for it along the way, not the least of which has been reliable battery charging.

I understand from other reviews that the output on off doesn't really turn it off completely (looks like a capacitor is across the output after the on-off or something, couple 20-40mV with no load). In practice though it works very well and it's been really nice having a simple adjustable bench power supply in the typical form factor. Has been reliable so far and seems relatively accurate when measured with my HP 34401A

I bought this originally to provide a current-limited source for only the initial testing of a ham radio kit I had assembled (QMX+). I assumed that the very low price relative to comparable units would mean that it would generate too much switching noise to use in the long run. I was pleasantly surprised to find no detectible noise, so I now use it routinely and not just for testing.
